As the title says, should students be allowed to stay of school in hot weather like this? I mean, for me, it is far too hot to concentrate in school, most of the class (i'm guessing) would be half asleep in weather like this.

Yeah we should be able to have the day off if it is hotter than a certain high degree. Today at school, it was really hard to concentrate because everyone was really boiling, also to make it worse, we have to wear black jumpers. :eusa_wall I felt sick today because it was too hot.

I presume you live in England?
In America and third world countries such as Africa the temperates are hotter than in the UK at the moment, and it's like that all year round. England get a little bit of sun and everyone expects the Country to stop :P
In the winter we (not me personally :P) moan it's too cold and we shouldn't have to get out of bed to go to school/work, then in Summer when it's hot we moan we shouldn't have to go to school/work cos it's too hot.
You should just enjoy the weather as it is, I'd rather be in college and chilling with mates outside on free periods/lunchbreaks than sat at home indoors.

Yeah, but people who live in countries that have hot weather are more used to that kind of weather, in England we're more used to it raining in the summer, and i've heard that tommorow it's gona be like over 90 farenheight(sp) That for us is far to hot, we just aren't used to this heat.
And i didn't mean for us to stay at home and go on habbo, i'm just saying we should be allowed to stay at home or should be allowed to wear clothes that are cooler than our uniforms, alot of our uniforms in England are black with a white shirt, and black attracts the sun.
I feel sorry for the guy who had to wear a black jumper!!

So what if everyday of the summer is hot? Do you expect to just stay of school for the entierity of the summer or until it cools down?

I personally think that we should still have to go to school, but be aloud to wear what clothes we want to make us cooler and be aloud mini-fans!
I mean, if it gets too hot where you feel sick/cannot concentrate etc then you would get sent home anyway.
The whole country cannot stop because we are getting hotter weather, thats like saying if you go on holiday to a hotter country you will stay in an airconditioned hotel room ALL HOLIDAY!

Come winter, you'll be expecting days off because it's too cold. English people are just fussy.

Well if your working and the temperature is above 34 degrees then they are allowed to have days off work... Same should be for schools. I'm not saying to stay off school if the weather is just a litte bit hot, but such temperatures as above 34 degrees, then i think people should be allowed to stay off, who exactly is going to be able to concentrate.
And about the winter thing, i don't think people should be allowed to stay home then, cos your allowed to wear coats and you have heating.
I would rather be cold right now than be as hot as i am now!
Btw, i'm not actually at school any more anyways, i'm 18.

Stay indoors (It will be cooler)..
Drink lots of cold water
Although ice lollies are cold, there not the best thing on a really hot day!
If you really have to go out, take breaks and drink water.
Try to avoid busy places.

I love the sun and the heat but the problem with British summer is that it's too humid, sticky and you just get uncomftable.

Very true, But some people find it rearly hard to work in hot conditions.
Some teachers are insane and shut the windows if the class start messing around :@ Should be sacked for it.

It depends. Some people should stay off from school because they might suffer from heat stroke or whatever it is called, when you get to hot and start flaking out or getting really dizzy for the rest of the day. But if you don't, tough, you shall suffer in the heat :D Just take a bottle of water around with you for the entire day, and if you can't drink in lessons, tell the teacher tough poo, you don't want to be roasted. Or just drink alot at the beginning of the lesson...

It's not just people who get heat stroke though, some kids might have something wrong with their heart, it was advised that people with heart problems aswell as the elderly should stay indoors, because the heat could kill people. Was said in a newspaper.

We should be able to take extra clothes in our bags with us, just incase it becomes hot, then be able to change into them if it gets boiling. (Shorts, vests, t-shirts, etc)

In Australia if its over 40 degrees we have to go home usually its 38 in summer everyday.I sleep infront of the air conditioner.
I suggest drinking water or juice boxes/prima's that have been frozen. Swimming is also good.
