View Full Version : Being a Twin

I'm a twin and I sometimes don't want to be one.
Teachers and students at school always refer to me and my sister as "the twins" and we don't make friends easily. We've been called twins ever since we started school and It's getting really annoying and kind of makes us sad. I used to be in a different class than my sister but this year we got put in the SAME class for EVERY subject. We are constantly competing for higher marks than each other, its fun to compare with ourselves but teachers sometimes calls our marks out and if one of us gets a lower mark students and the teacher makes comments that he thinks is funny but it makes one of us feel really sad. I find it hard to make friends. Don't know why but I just do..
I think that being called twins a lot of the time is discrimination. We should be called by our names and treated like individuals. Some people might say "I wish I was a twin" but they seriously wont like it at all! :(
So please, if you see someone that is a twin, don't go calling them that because I'm sure they sometimes feel the way I do. It's not a nice feeling.

It might be funny to all you's who arent twins but It certainly wasn't for them. Because of that incident those two girls must've fought a lot when they got home- that usually happens. >:(

you may not like it but the fact your a twin means you have brother/sister and i bet if you had the choice to get rid of them you wouldnt give them up for the world
but i see were your coming from with being known as a twin instead of an individual but dont worry everything happens for a reason (i believe in fate coz im not religious so sorry if you dont like my opinion if you dont believe the same) but i believe everything happens for a reason and 1 day you will both be glad your twins
also if you find this message offence im anyway then i will get it deleted

Its probably because they can't tell you apart. There is twins at my school and before I properly knew them, I would just go 'Niblet' (Thats there 2nd name) whenever I saw one of them. But now I know them apart, so I call them by there names.
Twins, you say you are monozygotic twins... [identical]
That must be pretty annoying! You say you are annoyed by teachers calling you 'the twins'... Well, if you are, then just say! Tell the teachers it upsets/annoys you, and I am very sure they will stop.
The discrimination side of things must be annoying too, the best thing you can do is talk to people; tell them that you are two different people!
I hope things get better soon...Remember... TALK!

I'm a twin... and i'd say we're probably among the most known people in School. We make friends EXTREMELY easily... everyone knows of us and mostly knows us. we're not in any of the same classes... as we just argue, fit, cause trouble. But urm... i normally get well higher grades ;) my twin's the worse one out of us though.
Some times i wish i WASN'T a twin though, but no one ever annoys us or bothers us. [we're both guys btw]

I guess... they're like a soul mate that you can batter, or in my case get battered.
I've got tons of freaky stories about how how'd you say it... how we can read each other basically. Cutta long story short... once when my brother was staying like 5 miles away and he was crying... at the same time i started crying and said gregg's hurt [my twin]. This was when i was 5.

lol You could 'batter' any brother or sister.. whether or not they are twins with you.
Psyhic-ness would be SO cool [lame word but couldn't think of a good one :l]

I've got a twin, but he's a ugly boy :D Kthnx.. But we're the same in a way, we're really close, and because of what we've been through and go through we're very close.. We've both got health problems, so we understand each other fully, i love being a twin. But we never compete!
Maybe try confronting the teachers, and tell them that it upsets you..
Are you like exactly identical ? Like no1 can tell you apart, cos your freckles are in the same place.
You say you both cant make friends ? I suspect your in your teens, like alot of people, if you feel neglected by your class-mates, just join in, and be yourself.
Your very lucky to have a twin like myself, but dont get yourself down over having a twin. If you got rid of her, you'd regret it ALOT!

Try and dres differently or hang out with different people.
Making friends isnt that hard if you put in the effort. Its as simple as talking to someone in class
Step out side you comfort zone and try new things apart. Being a twin must be all bad. You should be optomistic and find positives.

i know what you mean, theres 2 boys in my year, mark and neil and they are twins. they get called the twins but they are quite popular.
if you take offense from this, when your teachers call you the twins etc, you might aswell speak up about it or it will happen all of your life and it will only make you sad. if the teachers realise you dont like it then they will stop.

It may seem Akward but how hard is it to even make an attempt at getting a name right? Anyways, mabye you should do that too?

How is being called a twin is discrimination? Its like Being called Latin was a discrimination... :S
Not everyone hates being a twin.
I'm a twin yeah there are the good sides and the bad
She gets in the way when i'm with my g/f
but she makes friends easily and i don't so its annoying we have completely different intrests but i would say we are fairly close.

there are THREE pairs of identical twins in my year and 1 unidenticle pair in the year
its mayhem but once you spend a few months with the identical ones you see the differences and you recognise them

It might be cool to have a girl twin. See what it's like for their point of view.

I'm a twin. I'm 24 minutes older than my twin sister [I'm a guy if you didn't know :P] and I think it can be fun. Yeah teachers mention you. But it's funny, I like it. Teachers know my name even if they don't teach me, everyone makes a big deal out of it. They find it fascinating!
Then again, there are 2 other sets of twins in our year. But actually both have left so lol. No I find it great, the odds of having twins are highly unlikely, so I think it's nice.
Then again, boy/girl twins don't look EXACTLY like each other so its less noticeable. It's good though, as I can make friends with her friends and vice versa.
And yeah, you get a girls point of view. I have 3 sisters so it's easy to understand a girls mind. Sometimes its akward say you get in trouble when we were in the same class but still it's a laff!
