Alien Drawing for website needs improving...

for a simple 'Alien' type of Website thing what do you think i could improve on for this:?

The BG will not be grey when i have finished it so the outline will be easier on the eyes. Either that or it just doesnt go with the blue lol.
As i said it was simple and a 5 Minute job but it doesnt look right to me. I need to improve it but i dont know where. This is the one i wanted moving eyes on.

I know this may be copying ThyBag a bit but it is going to be used for a completely different site which will not be a tutorial site.

Done in flash i guesse, i recommend for non-moving cartoon (picture) characters
using cs2. But if you dont have it i guesse you could add shading and some more
Detail? maybe a better shape, it looks odd to me.

it looks odd to me. I do have photoshop but i dont want to do it in PSCS2 because im learning how to use it properley. I also like this done in Flash 8 becuase it has stuff in it that i will use later on.

Ill see what it is like in green and then maby add those little antenna things (i think thats what you meant Fusion). I dont want detail and shading. If you look at ThyBags it doesnt have shading (the banner does but the ones next to the news doesnt)

im sorry but you cant compare that to thybags thier one has minor shading if you look closely and theirs just looks good

i am trying to keep it simple and that was a 5 min job. I am new to flash and photoshop. I am doing this in Flash and as the title says it needs improving "/

In Flash 8 how do you add shading and where should i add shading?

The one on thybags actually done in photo shop, i just have a transparent flash layer to add in the eyes and messages :D

My advice is a bigger mouth, and some more interesting features, antennae maybe? there's actually pretty hard to do well which is why i have boz as the logo instead of the original alien vex who's harder to draw :p
My first attempt at a computerised alien in flash was pretty aurfal, when i get up my old thybags versions gallery u will see what i mean, it appears in thybag 1 which is by far the uglyest layout you ever did see

in photoshop, got the green colour, opened colour panel, darkened it, splodged where i wanted, did same again exsept with ligheneing, for highlights. Then used the smudge tool to blend it all "/

if i gave you a .bmp of it could you open it in photoshop and have a go at shading parts of it because when i do it i cant make it look at all right "/.

you must be a good drawer. Would it be possible to draw one on pen and paper with shading and then scan it in and then make it look as if it were done on the PC?

probably, although would be quite difficult id think, as scanners pic up alot of rubbish, easier to trace the outline and go from there, but that would requre shading on the comp anyway, just do cartoony shading, big bold colours of difference, a bad example: http://www.deviantart.com/view/28357087/

Yup i always scetch out a layout roughly at least before a i start working on it, i usealy work out where all the divs or tables or whatever im using fit in as well, i have many a pic, although its rair the finished thing actaly looks like my orignal consept by the end :p

Plus by jove, spiffing is a spiffing word!

it is realy a diffent charicter, boz and vex the two thybag aliens are just two aliens, out of billions of possible designs and charciters people could create and still call aliens, its like with robots, theres so much variation many places can have robot logos without there being an issuse of simply copying "/
