I sometimes see quite a few "wanting to lose weight" threads, so I decided to make a tips post for people wanting help on losing weight.

Breakfast - Your most important meal of the day, i'd personally advise two wheetabix with skimmed milk (But instead of adding sugar, add either fruit or low calorie sweetner), A LOW CALORIE fruit salad (Eg lower calorie fruits, rasberries, strawberries, satsumas, lychees) and try to avoid higher calorie fruits (Eg bananas and dried fruits, eg grapes). Wash that down with a black coffee or coffee with skimmed milk. if you don't enjoy having a hot drink at breakfast, have a H2o fruit shoot (Only six cals per bottle! ) Or a diet coke. Calorie Aim - 200Kcal

Lunch - As it's the summer holidays and there is no school, you obviously have more of a choice for what you can have, so resist the temptations for a mcdonalds/KFC/Buger king/Pizza hut! I'd advise a nice chicken salad sandwich for lunch, using weight watchers bread (49 Kcals a slice!) and some LEAN (Not deep fried :D) chicken topped with plenty of salad AVOID using butter/marg on your bread, as it's basically adding fat to your sandwich. If your still hungry, why not have a piece of fruit, a low calorie fruit salad or carrot sticks with a salsa dipping sauce.

Tea - The hardest part of the day, my advice is for you to head to your local supermarket (bigger the better!) and buy one of those low calorie ready made meals (Morrisions has quite a few good uns!) and remember that all big supermarkets have a weight watchers section too, so have a look on there also. As the portions in these meals vary, buy some veg to accompany your meal (Avoiding Potatoes, Sweetcorn and peas. Try for cabbage, green beans, corgettes, brocelli, carrots etc). If you are STILL hungry after your tea and looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, then i'd advise a rountrees(sp?) jello pot, a piece of fruit OR if you have a mum/dad/friend that goes to weight watchers, you'll know about fruities, have a pack of them.

Snacks - Easy, Fruit and veg are brilliant forms of food to snack on AND they count towards your 5 a day thingy. Other FILLING low calorie snacks include...

A Can of diet coke (Remember, hunger is often mistaken for thirst!)

A pack of fruities (Only 30 cals!)

A Slim a soup (V filling!)

Drinks - Avoid drinking full fat sodas and go onto the diet/zero drinks. Drink skimmed milk instead of full fat milk. Drink orange cordial instead of pure orange juice.

Eating out - Avoid having large/supersized meals and opt for healthier sides, eg salad or a baked potato.

PM me for further details.

Thats really good advice, It really annoys me when I hear about people starving themselve and calling it a "diet", which is stupid as eating nothing makes you bloat up even more.

First you bloat, then you loose weight, just to correct you on that.

Brilliant thread, this will come in handy for ALOT of people, as i too see many threads about this subject.

Thanks! :eusa_clap :D

I can hardly call "a can of diet coke" a healthy choice. Especially in breakfast.

Low-calorie ready-made meals are often high in sodium and cholesterol.

Fruit won't make you satisfied. I suggest eating nuts and such that are high in fiber.

If you want fiber, have bran for breakfast, have wholemeal bread or have wholemeal rice/pasta.

Easiest way to add fiber into the diet.

I heard that Diet Coke causes cancer, is this true? Also isn't drinking Two Diet Cokes equivalent to One Regular Coke?

If anyone is curious to the fruities...I can totally back you up on them...they are awome!
Its just like buying candy from a corner store but its like little cubes (strawberry rasberry ect) of candy that take like 3 minutes of chewing (great for sucking on...) and taste like candy!

For breakfast you can also make chocolate chunk muffins (sounds fattening eh?) but really its mostly made of bran cereal thats a really really really good source of fiber (I swear, you don't want to eat more them 3 at a time!!!!). Im not sure of the recipe....its my mother who knows it.....

LOL. Sorry, but normal people dont read backs of packs and keep a record of calories they take in every day. Dieting hardly ever works, if you exercise regularly you can eat whatever you want.

I've yet to see you offer someone a single compliment in this section of the forum. You don't rule over it, you know.

Where in my responses in this forum imply domination? And I'm simply stating facts. I'm not going to absent mindedly agree with every single person who offer health tips/advice when I know that they're wrong.

Seriously? Who, in their right mind, would advice someone to drink diet cola in the morning? Regardless if you're dieting, that's still unhealthy.

Thats a great guide, and I could add to it, why not have wholemeal bread, pasta etc, and orange juice isnt fattening - 1 small glass a day, squash has sugar etc, but the guide is helpful, very helpful!

Lmao. That's a pretty rubbish counterclaim. So what if they're just tips? They still have to be factual information, right?

Okay then, i advised drinking diet cola in the morning because of the caffine content of the drink and not that many teenagers like coffee.

More tips for Dietiers!

In the past month or so, new "healthy foods" have come onto the market.

Heard about nimble ? - The new bread with 48 calories a slice and quite a bit of fibre (can't remember the exact amount) but this bread is awsome! Brilliant for that 160 calorie sandwich!

Also, morrisions has launched a complete set of "healthy eating meals" and some of them are absolute brilliant... I mean A tikka masala with rice all for 320 calories and 7g of fat? pretty dam good.

LOL. I'm not saying this in a nasty way tomo, but your funny, you sound like one of those people on teleshopping late at night advertising different products. Some of them are good tips but the calorie counting really put me off :(

Thats good but its not always easy to stick to a diet! All you need to do to lose weight is stop snaking and think about what you eat! It helps to get a picture of a fat person put it on your fridge, everytime you go to open it, you'll see it!

I don't see the big issue about coke.
It's not even that nice. Even diet coke is crap, its fizzy and has sweetners instead.. :/
If you're serious about dieting GET RID OF THE POP!
Yummy GAS. Why not just have squash? Or water? Drinking lots of water helps you lose weight and flushes out toxins

Maybe because some people like the drink? Duuuuh!!!
That's like saying "Eww marmite is disgusting get it banned", when some people like it.
Seriously, are you dumb?

this was really helpful, thanks. i am really wary of my weight and am always dieting even though i am an average weight. my parents even think i have bolemia and have told me this (this majorly freaked me out, as they told me that after i interupted two meals in one day to go to pee) and i am always moaning that i am fat.
having this advice from a fellow forum(er/person?) really helped because i know that hearing it from a weight specialist seems to be samey.

i would liek to add to watch out for the natural sugars in some of the fruits like strawberries :)

Tip for people wanting to lose weight: DON'T EAT SO *REMOVED* MUCH!

Ok, srsly though, diets DONT WORK. You start eating healthy, and you lose a few pounds, but you get cravings and you give in and binge, then you feel bad and you've gained weight. You repeat this cycle over and over. Dieting is pointless.

Wait wait wait, are you ******* NUTS? This is a crazy diet. Don't do it. How do you stop yourself from putting the weight back on when you stop? You will feel awful doing this.. 200, 400, 600 and 800 are all far too little calories to live on.
