Ive not been able to sleep much for the last 1-2 weeks, only like a few hours a night but I keep waking up and like just not being able to get to sleep no matter what I do.
Any help on what I can do, sometimes I just sit up until like 3am/4am because I cant get to sleep and then have a few hours sleep or I fall asleep and keep waking up and can't get back to sleep.
Any advice? .
AND Im going on holiday on Saturday so I really need some help! Maybe on holiday I might be able to sleep I dunno?
I dont want sleeping pills because you can get addicted to them.

See a doctor if it's bugging you too much. Perhaps they can prescribe something.

What can you do, if it's affecting you that much you have no choice. ;)

It doesnt sound to much like insomnia, insomnia is where you hardly actually sleep at all.

Before you sleep, whatever time that may be, just before you sleep, a few hours before it, take a nice hot relaxing bath, read a book, if you sleep with any electrics on, turn them off, that distracts you from sleeping, if you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, do something relaxing, put some music on, very quiet music, not rock, hard bass music but soothing music which is more than likely to be calm, if none of that works, then i suggest visiting your GP and ask for something to help, or any advise, my sister has sleeping tablets (nytol), and thats helped ALOT.

Anyway, hope that helped. :)

edit:
The medication my sister was given had no side effects at all, they helped her alot, medication may be the answer if it is that bad. After all, sleep is very important.

Your welcome. :)
The bath thing helps me alot, it relaxes your muscles ect and releases any tension aswell, well for me at least. :) Anyway, if none of that works, then you probably will need to see your GP, medication may be the answer, sleep is really important, you don't wanna pass out now do you? :P
Anyway, hope it works tonight.

You're not supposed to have a bath a few minutes before, I think it is like half hour before if I am right. I might be mixed up though.

Well, generally people have sleeping problems if theirs something on their mind, or they have some sort of problem which is bugging in them... in your case (as I of course do not know you personally) may be exams or something...

Anyway, the only real cure for this problem is to face the problem head on and overcome it, letting a lot of weight off your sholdours and clearing your mind.

Failing that, I suggest you take a nice long bath around 30 minutes before you plan to go to bed, perhaps with lavender incense - good for relaxing - and lavender radox bubble bath. After that, have a drink of either Options hot chocolate (no sugar please!;]) or warm milk which helps relax you aswell. Then just hit the hay.

When your in bed though, if you keep thinking about things, or if you even keep thinking about how much your not going to sleep - THEN YOUR NOT GOING TO SLEEP! ;p

You need to clear your mind, and personally (for some reason lol) if you just tink of complete blackness and shut your eyes... I usually go to sleep. Basically clearing your mind of all images and thoughts! :]

Failing that though, lol, you should see your doctor incase the problem is more serious, but state you do not want pills, and I'm sure there will be some sort of alternative, perhaps a liquid mix.

Good luck!

Come off the computer / stop watching tv or whatever before you go to bed. It makes your mind work

Well, What you can do is count 1 2 3 4 etc. with your eyes closed, everything clears out of your mind then and you fall asleep, if you can't do that try, closing your eyes and you know when you get little lights in your eyes ike blue things, pretened there sheep, and count them.

Do this. I saw it on TV and it's really helped me. It used to take me like 1-2 hours to get to sleep.

1. Go to bed 1 hour later then usual
2. If your not asleep within 15 minutes watch some telly, read a book until your tired

Pills arn't really the suggestion me thinks, what keeps me awake is when i'm thinking about too much stuff, preferabley when i'm stressed.
Try relaxing and you'll nod off.

If you dont want to go to a doctor to get pills I suggest some natural medicine, like seeing a natropath. They will find natural solutions and meditaion & techniques.Lavender oil is another solution just put a few drops on a tissue near your pillow. If you are stressed write/draw your what you are feeling.
I use an eye mask. It makes everything dark then I consintate on my breathing.
Teenage hormones play a part in how much sleep you get, and the quality. Its not uncommon for teenagers to feel tired and need more sleep. Thats what my doctor said.

These may not work for you. But if symptons persist see your doctor for advice

melatonin & gravol.
melatonin is available at the healthfood store and it works good.
gravol is so-so.

I have the same problem, except once I am asleep I sleep fine. Sometimes I just lay there for hours, even if Im tired. I came home from an 8 hour concert last night and was tired as hell, and still took me about a half hour to fall asleep. And I dont want to take pills, I like to think there are other ways to solve things like that.

What Ive done sometimes is get hot chocolate, because warm milk makes you sleep. I know its summer, so it might be weird.

Also, try not cutting off your caffine intake about 6 hours before you go to sleep.

You should see the size of the bags under my eyes. Sleeping isn't my strong point, as I struggle to sleep aswell. I'm also scared of the dark, so that doesn't help either.
