Either get rid of the filter or don't give us infractions for when a word gets filtered, I think it's stupid, My brothers 8 and I hear him swearing all the time, this forum is aimed at people over 11? I'm sure they've heard swear words before. There have a comment, and don't close it.

Agreed, some of your mods are totally moronic and can't grasp the fact that
**** is not avoiding the filter and does not deserve an infraction, it is obeying the filter.

Thats not a good thing, most 8 year olds dont swear. Anyway, this is a Habbo forum, therefore shoud follow Habbo "rules". Besides, why do people always see the need to swear in all their sentences?

When was the last time you heard a 8year old talk casually?

Someone could be anger or something, and by saying the odd swear word in a sentence, could help.

I guess. I think mainly having a filter is out of respect to people who dont want to see swear words in posts, like on Habbo, im guessing the filter is out of respect for parents.

Not give infractions for when a word gets filtered.

I think the filter should be there, but if you have a word filtered in your post you should be infracted if it was directed rudely to another member, if not I always thought there was no rule agasnt it :s

Apply the filter to the habbo parts of the forum then?

I think we should get rid.

I reckon you should only get an infraction if you avoid it, if you don't avoid it no one will see it so no one will get offended, so no need for an infraction.

The filter should be there but theres no need to give infractions if someone says a word that is filtered out, its like getting banned for saying bobba...

When you post something that is filtered so it comes up as *** this is not against the forum rules, you should not get an infraction or warning for this. Does this every happen? Your post should only be edited when you AVOID the filter (which means you try to swear on purpose).

As far as I know we cannot have the word filter only hold in some part of the forum, and not in others, it automatically holds everywhere.

There are basically two reasons we have the word filter. 1) because we are a Habbo fansite and mostly follow their guidelines 2) because we want to be a forum that can safely be enjoyed by members of ALL ages, in a way that they or their parents don't have to be worried about swearing.

I know that a lot of members are 16 years or older, and are probably even allowed to swear at home. But we cannot allow some members to swear, and others not, so we have to forbid it for everybody. Also I never had any problems myself saying what I wanted to say without swearing, but I guess if you are used to swearing a lot in real life or on other websites you have to adjust here.

yeah i think some of the words that are meant to be sexually related should be unbanned, such as the word sc'rew [if its still filtered]

Yes some words do need removing. But I think most of the filter was based off the Habbo one.

Because there is some confusing (also among moderators) I'll try to explain what is allowed and what not:

A2. Don't swear - It really is as simple as it sounds. The forum filter will substitute the letters of swear words with *-signs. However some words might not have been censored as of yet, and are not suitable on this forum. It is not allowed to try to avoid the swearing filter or to post any swearing that does not come up as ***. Also it is not allowed to use any abbreviations for words that are filtered on this forum, with an exception for LMAO which is allowed, even though the A stands for a word that is filtered.

1) It is allowed to swear when the swearing is filtered.
Example: I was ****ing late for work / For **** sake
I would like it if not just the **** part but the complete 7 letter word was filtered by our word censor, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that.
These posts should not be edited.

2) It is not allowed to swear when your swearing is not filtered.
Examples are avoiding the filter by adding a . in the middle, or by some other trick.
These posts should be edited.

3) It is not allowed to use abbreviations for words or suggest swear words by only typing the first letter(s).
Example: For f*** sake / stfu / fu
These posts should be edited.

Does this means the following is allowed?

You are a ****ing idiot, go **** your mum.

Of course this is not allowed, but the rule that is broken here is NOT rule A2, but rule A1 which says you have to respect other's views (I will edit the rule so that it explicitly says not to be rude or offensive to others).

In this case a (temporary) ban should be given, and the post should be edited with something like: Please don't be rude or offensive to others.

The word Scr'ewed is Filtered, Could we unfilter that?

Wig44.

yeah, things like li.ck and sc'rew(ed) should be unfiltered, and if someone uses them in an obscene way they gota temporary ban or infraction.

If you can show me some posts where these words are used in a non-swearing and non-offensive way we will consider removing them from the word filter.
