It was on a weekday. And no, I personally think we shouldn't (uk peeps only). It wasn't our country's disaster.
I think it's a national mourning holiday in the US.

I hope we do have a 2 minute silence.
I remember we didnt have a silence for the london bombings
I think its disrespectful(sp) if you don't have one, So if we don't have an official one at school i'll just have one to myself.

I understood that a bunch of people died and how bad it was, unfortunatly, I wasent old enough to understand the politics behind it and the reasoning etc.
But I saw the DUMBEST myspace bulliten the other day. It was all about saying "Ok, skip school on 9/11! We should have that day off because of what happened". Yeah, thats right, kids here in the US want to take advantage of almost 3000 people dying for a day off. Sick idiots.

Taking a day off is just stupid. But if someone close such as a family member died in the attack, I would understand if they did take the day off because it would be an emotional day for them.
RLY-CRAIG?

I dont even know about that really. All it means is that it's been exactly 5 years, doesnt change anything else though. It could remind you of stuff, but honestly, with all respect, I dont think a day off would really be apropriate even for someone who lost someone. If anything, they shouldnt take the day off to get their mind somewhere else. If youve had 5 years of mourning, I dont think one day off will do much of a difference.

We don't have one at work as far as I know. However before there was a minutes silence for something and no one told me or my colleague and we was sat there laughing at something and the whole factory was quiet.

we had one minute at 12.00
I had one in one of my classes today. My sister's friend's Dad died. She went to school today though. It's so weird that HER Dad's help call to 911 was recorded and shown on CBS and put all over YouTube.
