Not sure if its been posted already.. [havent been on in ages]
I heard that lots of people who Tlk lyk dis Are better spellers that people who write properly. This is because then have to think about how to shorten words. Myself personaly i think this is really stupid. I would have though poeple who write properly would have better spelling.
What do you think?

I don't really believe that, spelling properly is good as spellin like dis, you could pick up a habit and end up spelling obvious words wrong in r/l.

I can sort of see where this theory comes from, as I find that I have to actually think about it if I want to type in txt spk rather than normal type, but I don't think it does actually make you better at spelling. Surely it would just make you more confused about the spelling of real words, and I see so often people having "no" instead of "know" and such in schoolwork because they're so used to typing it like that.
dn0 m8 i just type wateva way i wnt 2 type wen i feel lk it sumtimes peace

i hate when people assume that if you use text speak you aren't as clever.
some of the cleverest people i know tlk lik diz.
the boy in my school who has won the English Prize every year since he was 11 uses text speak.
so yeah.
i use both, if i cba with talking properly i use "u" and "r" and stuff.
