IPB 1.3 Orrrrrrr phpbb?

Ok, so I am after a free forum. I like the look/feel of IPB but I'm concered that using 1.3 might not be that safe. phpbb has lots of mods availible for it, so I'm not sure which one to go for.

I really do like IPB though. 1.3 is the version they use on InvisionFree isn't it?

Yes 1.3 is what invisionfree use, but sometimes members of your 1.3 forum feel that it is hard to understand if they are newbies, because they are crowded with links and buttons. 1.3 isn't great to style, and the admin panel is pretty naff, plus there aren't many mods. There is a site somewhere that does do security updates for 1.3 (they aren't invision, just people who provide updates themselves for it).
Personally I would use phpBB or MyBB

MyBB - IPB 2.0 was the last free IPB and is quite good although you have to of dled it when it was on the IPB Site...

What advantages does myBB have over phpBB?

your allowed to use IPB 1.3 as IPB have emailed me and told me. I cant remember if they said you could use 2.0

Personally, i dont like the admin settings for PhpBB, so i would go for IpB. Ive already made one that you can see if you want. I dont wanna post url in case u dont want me too
