First Layout [CSGG]

Yeah, the layout for the new CSGG site.
Still a WIP, so bear that in mind when rating it. Also, that means you can bombard me with C+C and the like, seen as I still have the .PSD.

I am sorry, but i dislike it.
Some of the colours are to bright.
Try and put the colour "inside" ur design, if u get wot i mean, having a gray template can be nice, but indeed, to make in unique and eye catching u would have to make a "center of attention point", in ur case, this falls right out of the design, try and mix it into the content area, but do not overuse it.
A center of attention can be small but verry eye catching.

If u do not really know how to get started, i suggest to visit some quality tutorial sites.

But for a first design, it is quite a good start, keep working on it.
Dont be afraid to start over when it doesnt work out.
I wish u good luck, and i hope u really become a good designer.

I like it, the only thing i don't like is the diagonal(sp?) lines on the side, get rid of them and it should be a pretty nice layout. Oh and set the font style thing to smooth the text looks too rough 8/10 so far.

I strangely like it :D The contrast needs to be a bit brighter as it looks quite dull. 9/10 :D

I like it it's got a funky feeling to it and a bit of 60s style! It could be a bit brighter as the contrast is a bit low but apart from that well done!

Nice design. but tooooo many scanlines and too varied colours.

The design has great potential.

But you've done a few things wrong:

¬ You've not used colours that contrast well with each other which can result in a messy looking design
¬ Don't use scanlines. The scanlines are so old now and barely any sites use them. Of course you can pull it off, but this layout does not.
¬ The text in the banner. What is that about? It looks rubbish compared to the rest of the design.

If you improve on these it'll become a better design.

Don't be afraid to start again because if you start with a bad design and continue it'll always be a bad design. If your afraid to start again you'll never get anywhere. Sometimes you'll nail a design in one, other times it may take 5 or 6 shots to get the design perfect.
