Thorpe park are getting the classic "Flying fish" Ride back...

Well, i would have liked something a bit more..."Woahgottagoonthat" kinda ride.

For those of you who have no idea;
The flying fish ride had been at thorpe park for ages, and was taken away to make room for "Stealth, the 205ft high 0-80 in 2.3 secs rollercoaster" And they are bringing it back, it was nothing special, a simple MACK designed childrens coaster, and are putting it bahind the ride Depth Charge and WET WET WET..

Anyway thaught i'd share that with you, but theres no saying they dnt have surprises up there sleeves ;D

Omg that rides cool ^^

Chaz
18-09-2006, 07:58 PM
Dunno, its nothing special..
..Plus tussauds are turing thorpe park into the thrill seeker park (Along side alton towers, dunno what they have planned for chessington though)

-Soph-
18-09-2006, 07:59 PM
It doesn't look all that good actually O.o

(Just looked at some pictures, I swear it looked different last time I searched it.. Oh well, My memmory for you:rolleyes:)
But i've not been on it, and I guess its the on-ride experiance that counts..

Chessington's rubbish anyway haha..
It's better for tussauds to spend their money on AT and TP...

I would of thought AT and TP would already be seen as thrill seeker parks..
I mean, they have to have something child-friendly or else no familys would visit and visitor numbers would plummet

Chaz

Childrens rollercoasters...arnt my thing..lol

My tech project is based on thorpe park..omgash im well sad...OHWELL ;D

-Soph-
18-09-2006, 08:02 PM
Haha we have to design a log flume for our tech:rolleyes:

I did kind of base mine on the flume, but added some more things =D

Childrens rollercoasters...arnt my thing..lol
I wouldn't think people our age would think that:p
They just need them to attract familys with young children to the park:p
And I guess they can be quite fun if your bored:rolleyes: - Or at a rubbish fair.

Chaz
18-09-2006, 08:04 PM
Yeahh x)

My tech project is Rush - Its a balence thing, made of metal....

-Soph-
18-09-2006, 08:07 PM
Nicee..

We only get to design our flume on the PC..
So its a bit crap :l

Anyway, everyone elses is simple.

But me? Oh I wasn't looking what everyone else was doing and went totally overboard :(

Chaz
18-09-2006, 08:09 PM
LOL what was your grade for it?

-Soph-
18-09-2006, 08:12 PM
Only just started it:rolleyes:

Hopefully i'll do okay because my computer skills are quite good.. :p

Should finish it around xmas time :p

Chaz
18-09-2006, 08:14 PM
I gotta make it totally outta metal, all the others are based on nothing, mine is gonna take ages. I'll get the paperwork done first, so if it gets a bad grade the paperwork designs will back it up x)

-Soph-
18-09-2006, 08:23 PM
Haha i'm terrible at metalwork.
And woodwork:rolleyes:

Its probably because I almost hacked my fingers off in it last year "/

Yah, been on the park map since like May, and was pretty much guaranteed to happen as it wasn't eventually sold. I expect planning details will soon be on the runnymeade website.

Also, a hotel for 2008! ;)

Chaz
19-09-2006, 02:46 PM
Yeah, they had planned a hotel but i think that will be ages away, until it grows a but more, and a rollercoaster of a smilar status to "air" at alton towers ;D

JackBuddy

*CAN'T EDIT*

Not to do with the Flying Fish, but merr...
http://ww2.runnymede.gov.uk/home/latest/wklyplanapps/wk37/Plan_lst.htm
Planning aplication for the hotel and a certain canada creek coaster. ;)
Hotel is 2008 btw.

Seems like you're not the Thorpe Park expert. ;D

Oh, and there's likely to be an X:// NOWAYOUT re-vamp too.

-Soph-

Bah, if they built a hotel now it would just just as much intrest as the one at alton towers I reackon.

Hope they build something different that something similar to air, As its not that good..
(Well.. its more fun than scary..)

Yeah, i've seen the blueprints, looks huge... quite high up off the ground, and will be in the canada creek area - nothing ever happens there so hopefully it will attract more people x)

Err sarcasum?

JackBuddy
19-09-2006, 03:18 PM
When it says similar scail, it doesn't mean it's going to be a B&M flyer. It's just the same sorta size.
Chessington are building a hotel too.

-Soph-
19-09-2006, 03:19 PM
Err sarcasum?

noo!

I really do want to go:eusa_wall

Chessington doesn't need a hotel:p

well its not good enough to have one..

Chaz
19-09-2006, 03:20 PM
Yup, its planned to be built in 2008 (Thorpe Park's) But there is not total garentee, i might be wrong but they do often stop things..

..Like this year we were ment to have something Like rush or vortex..(Not exactly the same, but similar)

So theres no saying that they will. But likely.

-Soph-
19-09-2006, 03:22 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if this does go ahead though..

They could make a tidy profit out of a hotel.

Chaz

Indeed, they will get one. And i will live there...no really...i will.

I've never been to alton towers yet, i plan to go soon though, but its miless away!

JackBuddy
19-09-2006, 03:25 PM
Why would they stop building a hotel half way through construction?

And the MTDP was released in 2003, it's only a rough guide. Next season will be a quiet year like 2004. Thorpe park have money to save!
AND the hotel IS going ahead. did you not see the planning permision?

-Soph-

Hah, I'm like the opposite to you..
Go to AT all of them time but have yet to go to TP..

Its common sense for tussauds to build a hotel at TP.
AT has one, so why not TP? :p

Chaz
19-09-2006, 03:45 PM
Im on googlearth, and i've looked at them all, chessington is huge, but is filled with crap. Thorpe Park looks awesome from above, nut :/x No Way Out needs to be repainted, and the photo is old.

Alton towers splash landings hotel is amazing from above, the glass room looks really nice! But, the actual park is hard to see amongst the trees! :P

JackBuddy
19-09-2006, 03:47 PM
I seem to remember the google earth photo being at least 2004, so it's not that old...

-Soph-
19-09-2006, 03:50 PM
Tussauds don't want to be spending their money on a hotel at chessington.

They need to be spending their money actually making the park worthwhile going to:rolleyes:

Chaz

In that time thorpe park has;

Rush
Stealth
Nemisis Inferno (2004-5)
Slammer

So, theres a lot missing.

-Soph-
19-09-2006, 03:53 PM
I can never see clearly on google earth :s
it just looks like a blur to me..

Has it changed?
If so, I must download

I've never been to thorpe park..

If you go to Thorpe Park, get a map of the place. There should be information on the back. It mentions about it there. Thats how I found out.

Think i'm going next month some time - I'll do that

deadfrog
20-09-2006, 03:20 PM
how could you want more! Flying fish is like a legend of a ride! It like owns every ride there because its a classic! But 2008 will be good because they bringing in a flying rollercaoster! Just like air!

-Soph-
20-09-2006, 03:31 PM
I don't see why they want anything like air..

Yeah its good and everything.. but I think they should go for something different..

It's not confirmed, loads of coasters have been mentioned like dive machines, 4D coasters, Woddies. etc etc

and on the MTDP, it says "A similar scale to Air" (Meaning size)3

I think a woodie would fit well into thorpe park..

Would I be right in saying they don't have one?

Chaz
20-09-2006, 04:09 PM
The ground isnt sutible enough for a wood one, cause that would have fitted in with the whole "canada" style look. After all it is surrounded by water ;d

JackBuddy

The ground is too dense or something, besides there isn't enough space, unless they fill in ALOT of the lake.

-Soph-
20-09-2006, 04:55 PM
Damn, A woodie would fit well into TP as well...

Btw that photo is 2005, you can see Slammer, and model world being dismantled.

-Soph-
21-09-2006, 04:02 PM
I can hardley see anything on googlearth..

AT looks pathetically small on it, and I can only work out a couple of the rides on it
