Right. I am so peeded off with my school.

My school has this scheme (along witha bazillion other schools). For the National Association Of Giften talented youth.

I wasn't picked even though I am SURE that I am in the top 5% in the school (top set in every subject, very good CAT test results, 8 in Maths, 7 In Science (high)6 In English in year 9 sats results. Good Classwork etc).

Other people who arn't in the higher sets, didn't get as good SATs results, don't perform well in other classes got in!?

I looked in the critera on the website and am in it, so why the hell didn't I get picked? :eusa_wall

A couple of years ago I was in the same position! Try speaking to your head of year or your school's NAGTY supervisior.

I found out the reason I wasn't picked (One level to low on one of my CAT's lol). The school still thought I was good enough for the scheme and started my appeal case, sending samples of my work & other results. In a few months I jonied NAGTY. :)

Thats a shame , talk to your form teacher or something , my school don't do it but I would probs be in it if they did it anyway :]

I'm in that but I don't think it's such a big deal, just something to be proud of, and if you know you deserve it you should be proud anyway.

And it's top 5% in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales I think, so I wouldn't worry about it.

On the website I think you can apply to become a member of it so why not try it?

Talk to your G&T co-ordinator.

Plus it's not the top 5% of the school that gets in, it's if your in the top 2% of the nation...

It's all based on cats, you obviously didn't do well enough. I remember being told you could only get like 10 questions wrong or something. Meh, i got in.

I'm a member of it (although i've moved to Australia now) However, you have to be in the top 5% and be nominated by your school.

I'm in NAGTY but it is complete junk.
Because we had a meeting and joined.
Then after loads of emails from school and about 4 months they finally sent use our details.

And nothing since.

It's all based on cats, you obviously didn't do well enough. I remember being told you could only get like 10 questions wrong or something. Meh, i got in.

I personally thought the CAT tests were a joke, they didn't tell us anything about them, sat us in a hall and make us do some strange questions. Then they somehow predict your scores and put us in the right groups. Big Joke.

In in Australia so we dont have CAT's but we get tests from universities for math and science. The whole point is to test you with questions off the sylibas [sp.]

My friends are "gifted" one of them got into camps and programs, my other friend gets better marks and does her homework and she didnt get any oppotunity. Luck of the draw sometimes.

Maybe you didin't get in because of equel opertunities (sp?) so they wanted to give other students a chance ?

My school doesnt run the sceame so i never did "cats" etc. the whole sceme sounds like a compleate waste of time anyway, Why would anyone want to do Additonal work, when they dont even get anything for it, Just take an exstra gcse, that way you get a gcse from it at least "/

I was one of three put in by my school, with 7, 8, 7 (English, Maths, Science respectively) SATs results. Membership has just been renewed in college after our GCSEs had been studied (and there is like 20-25 of us).

That's really unlucky Alex. :( But can someone explain what CATs are? :s

It's there to give G&T youth extra "challenges", to "push them on", and "encourage them to dig deeper". It's there to give them things "outside the box" to do... and it sounds good. :rolleyes:

but couple months back this fat woman who is in charge of that sorta stuff at my school asked me to go see her.
she was like this is the criteria 4 nagty in the yellis tests
u got in cos u got extremely high visual or somin.
then she said they dont let u in on this any more. so if u tried to enter now u wudnt get in cos u other scores are lower.

so i was like ok.... youre telling me this because???
