I'm not sure I understand..
But the songs archive themselves, so no songs will get overwritten in the process. o.o

Just don't do what I did and click "Yes" so it wipes your songs off :)

iPod can only have one iTunes library on it. That means if you have your library stored on and want your friends library on it, it would overwrite your library. I hope you understand what I mean.
Try burning your friends library to disk and rip it to your library. Or, you could enable your ipod to be a flash drive and copy songs into a folder and then move them onto your computer.

here goes..
1. connect ipod to your pc
2. go to my computer
3. click your ipod
4. click ''ipod_control'
5. then ''music''
6. now copy all your songs (may be a few folders there) into your music
7. they should now be in your library so you can re-add them

Go to the iPod_control. Then on the bar at the top go to:
Tools >> Folder Options >> View Tab >> Hidden files and folders >> Show hidden files and folder.
The music folder should now be shown. The mp3 files will have names like HHFG.mp3 and GGQA.mp3 but when played in iTunes, they should have the correct artists and album.

Connect your iPod via USB or FireWire (Which ever one you use). A new drive will appear in My Computer. It should be called something like:
(Your name)'s iPod
Double click this and it will open the drive. The iPod_Control should be located in there.

Set itunes to update songs manually instead of automatically
Then hook up your iPod and drag the playlists onto the iPod in iTunes

You can't see the Music folder because by default it is hidden. There is an option so you can see hidden files and folders. If you look at a post I written earlier, I said how you can show hidden files.

if its on your playlist, you can go into settings and make it so unticked songs dont go into your ipod, and then untick it. but if its not idk.

IF you have it set to update manually then you can just click on the song and press delete.
