Would you smack your children ?

And i was wondering, when you have kids, will you smack them?

No, its against the law aswell now if you hit a child and it leaves a mark.

But, no, even though i had an abusive childhood, i still will be a softy with my children, if i ever have any. Violence never solves anything, if my child(ren) ever have a need to be hit, id still not hit them, id just give them a good talking too. ;]

I would, as it's one way to get their attention and to keep them in line. But of course I'd do it lightly and only when it's very neccessary.

I'd like tap them like you said Bef, but nothing that would hurt. And the tapping only works on like toddlers, like if they do somthing they know is wrong tap them on the hand and they cry for all of 15 seconds.

I would under certain circumstances, as words perphaps wouldn't be strong enough to make the child understand that it's completely wrong etc.

I would HIT them so head they would neaver do it again plus i would shout and send them to there rooms with no dinner. and i would do that all the time if they did some thing they were not ment to do and they would sooon not do it. i would use a rolling pin to smack them with really head 5 times until they cry and send them to there rooms with NO dinner, and then after get them to say sorry for wot that did and give a hug and i would say sorry but i would say i had to do it if you were like that. thats how you do it.

I would smack them for what they done wrong, to make sure they'd never do it again. I was brought up like that and then I learnt and now by having been smacked I was brought up to be a good kid. I would want them to respect me but I would be firm with him at the same time.

I wouldn't.. I'd just smack them with what they deserved. If you do it unnessarily then your kids will hate you and show you no respect whatsoever.

If they did something wrong & i got angry about it, i probably would hit them without thinking, because when i get angry, i just hit whatevers there without even thinking, so i'm guessing it would happen to my kids (if i have any)

But, i also feel guilty over stupid things, and i'd end up saying sorry loads & rewarding them and everything for what they did after.

If the did something really wrong and were old enough to understand what it was and that its bad I would. But not beat them.
My parents belived in smacking, It was a wooden spoon or the jug cord for me. Same for my siblings, most of the time it was for nothing. I think sometimes their judgement was wrong, but it helped pull me into line.

hitting a child would not achieve much just hitting the child would either make them cry and run off, make the situation even worse or they would just keep going alot can be done by talking to a child, So my answer is no.
