k, first things first. I hate smoking never tried, never will.

Right, theres a bunch of people at my school who go in the courner of the field every lunch and start smoking. The teachers all know cause they walk up to them and then they see 20+ people scattering everywhere from one place. A number of teachers while walking up to them passing me have said 'you watch they will all move when they see me'

Surley this can be a reason to expell them if not suspend them for a week or two? But they dont do anything so they just carry on smoking. It annoys me. Any views on this? Comment. :)

Theres nothing they can do about it... our school started giving out detentions but no one went... they put up cctv cameras, but all the people who smoke all wear hoodys or baseball caps...

Same in my school - there's a wee area where the smokers go. It doesn't bother me as I keep clear of it, due to my strong disgust for smoking in general. I think if the person is over 16, then there shouldn't be a problem, but the school can't really do anything about it...

People smoke at my school all the time, they go out of class and smoke. But the teachers can prove it unless they and another member of staff or student to admit [to witness] that the person was smoking. At the year 12 camp last year 3/4 of the year were taken home becasue they took something to get stoned and green out on.

A teacher admitted a few years ago there were people coming to school high, stoned, drunk etc. everyday and the staff couldnt do a thing about it! That surprised me.

Teachers just turn a blind eye coz most of the teachers usually smoke as well. It annoys me how they allow it still. At my old school they used to walk right to the back of the field behind this big tree. All the teachers knew they went there. It would be funny seeing them all stood there behind this tree and when a teacher would walk up to the tree you would see them all slowly walk away from the tree.

There are 'smoking shelters' in my college, but its just an old bus stop with 4 sides lol... and the smokers just sit around outside it leaning on it... all the entrances have crowds of smokers round them too...

What makes me laugh is how people actually think it's 'cool'. OK, In Year 7 + 8, your gonna get every going to to you saying 'Wow, you had a ciggy', but by Yr 10 + 11, your just addicted and there's not much you can do about it.

I agree, Up in Scotland they inforced a smoking ban so pupils aswell as teacher couldn't smoke at School. Well on the School grounds. The smoking ban in Scotland is for all Public Places I.E Pubs, Clubs, Schools ect..

In my school, you can smoke as long as you aren't caught red-handed. The teachers don't really care, they all know I smoke. I've gone into school stoned so many times aswell, I'm in high sets. There ain't a thing teachers can do to stop a pupil from smoking, atleast not within legality. Secondly, i think we all, or most of us know that every school, or 8 out of 10 secondary schools (im assuming this is one) have smokers areas and it is well known, im sure the teachers done it at some point too actually, some of them. I don't think it will change, atleast not any time soon.

If you chose not to smoke, good for you! But i don't think you should be getting worried or concerned about other smokers. lmao.

It's hardly terrorist activity or anything, unless their using hard drugs or something like that, i see no problem in having a cig, as it is their choice.
