+rep if you answer any question correctly.

Female cimpanzees often mate with more than one male. The differant males' sperm cells race each other to reach the egg first. Both Modja and Tatu have mated with Tanu in the last hour.

a) Write down three adaptions that help a sperm cell to fertilise an egg cell.

b) In which part of a sperm cell and an egg cell are the genes found?

c) What do genes do?

Thanks in advance for any help. +rep

Would one of the adaptions be that it has a long tail to help it swim faster? :s

My memories getting better muha

Three adaptations:

Enzymes in it's head so it can get through the egg to the middle of the egg.
Long tail so it can make it's way to the egg.
andddddd errrrr. I can't remember, there are two... I'll try and remember.

ok theres that question done!! ty m8s

There's two more I'm stuck on aswell

1. In several months' time, Tanu has a baby, Uhali, which has long hair. Which male's sperm sucessfully fertilised her egg?
(See top post for the chimpanzee subscription)
2. One year later, Tanu has another baby, having mated only with Modja. Explain why their baby (shown below does not look identical to Modja.

a) Write down three adaptions that help a sperm cell to fertilise an egg cell.
The sperm cell would have to be able to burrow through the egg for a start, the sperm should be small and have a slight pointed 'head'. also, it needs a tail to manurve around the female womb to acess the egg, the faster they are - the more chance they'll win.

b) In which part of a sperm cell and an egg cell are the genes found?
The genes are found in the top of a sperm cell, and in the center of an egg. The spem must be able to get inside to fuse with the female.

c) What do genes do?
genes enable the parts of the male and female to become/make another chimp. lol. i gotta go, i tried. and i gotta go, seya!

What do those questions have to do with the slaggishness of female chimps?

Genes genetically identify a person/animal and disinguish your characters (ie. hair colour etc.)

I think it wouldn't be identical as it's taking characteristics from both parents, rather than just Modja (or whoever it was lol)

About the one with long hair - the chimp that has the longest hair, sperm would have fertilised the egg as it's passed on that genetic information.

Chimps clearly are close to being humans, they even act like most of our women.
