Y'know, im now actuallly SAD that Thinkhabbo has left for many reasons.

1. Nicci (Ex-Thinkhabbo DJ) is BACKSTABBING Nkay. and Thinkhabbo, saying how rubbish they were and making yay Thinkhabbos gone rooms, how self-centered.

2. As much as Thinkhabbo had the worst propaganda techniques that a fansite could deploy, i guess what would've happend if that was to change?

3. Many sites hated Thinkhabbo as they were so popular, but now you've got a few more problems. Clubhabbo which has always been a problem, CrazyHabbo (maybe) after all the shananigans of the one and only backstabber, and of course the sites which the old DJ's will probably set up.

Did we just dig a bigger hole for ourselves? It may seem that way.

(Not to mention court costs - the compensation claimed for the breach of copyright wouldn't be enough to cover the expense... so I would assume both parties would lose out.)

Did ThinkHabbo's forum say it complied with the Data Protection Act (1998)? I think not. Very few sites do. Any reputable company (within the UK) will comply by the DPA, such as "Sulake UK Ltd is registered under and adheres to the Data Protection Act (Registration Number Z5263105)." If you were going to slap the whole DPA thing on ThinkHabbo (if it is indeed applicable), it could have been done months ago, and I daresay many more fansites would be eligible for the same treatment. If you do not trust a site with your personal details; don't give them any - simple as ABC.

all i can say is........ YAY! Every time I Djed on a site such as HabboHome and tried to hold the party in Hallway 2, ThinkHabbo would just come along and wreck it :@. So TBH im glad its gone and good riddance. And as to what's going to happen to their listeners and DJs.......Well theres a million other fansites out there just aching to take them on. Then again I doubt the official ones will they have too many DJs already :p.

I'm glad it's shut, everytime I used to DJ on some radio, I used to lose nearly all my listeners because of thinkhabbo and their endless spamming.

I think it's sad that people have actually cried due to it's closure, and it's even sadder that someone has made a site to try and get it reopened.

Yes, you're right. In most countries, copyright can be designated as soon as the subject reaches creation. I was thinking about US copyright (where it is optional to register with the Copyright Office to put you in a better situation should litigation occur) and patents, and getting things jumbled in my head. (I had not eaten then - I have now. :) So yes, excuse the first half of my previous post. :) )

So yes - ThinkHabbo are in the wrong for claiming a layout for their own... but my point still stands that a legal case arising from such an issue would be very slim. (It would have been better for the author of the site layout and coding to contact the host with sufficient evidence it is their work, and see what happens following that. [Of course, emailing ThinkHabbo first would have provided an interesting reply.])

ThinkHabbo have made lots of mistakes, and I believe it is time for them to slink away... if this is a publicity stunt (which I doubt), they will make many more enemies. I have my own reasons for disliking ThinkHabbo - but it's pointless now that it is no longer up and running.

Legal action on a minor site (TH is considered small, yes) would be pretty much pointless. The threat of legal action is enough, IMO... and I think that may have contributed to the closure of the site. I do not believe legal action against Nkay. would have been pursued, because it would not be necessary.

A claimant can choose the amount to sue for. He basically chooses the price he feels most likely covers the damages (value of his layout). This is then filed to the courts who then decide if that is a fair amount and, in some cases, can increase it.

Basicly it costs a large sum of money to copytight stuff eg logos slogans , layouts , companies pay thousands and also if they did go to court it would be worthless as the sum of money they need to pay the lawyers will be way greater than they will get and also the lwayers will egt a share of the money.

firstly, i wasn't the only one hating on nkay. and thinkhabbo for pulling this stunt, loads of the dj's were VERY upset by it and I was the only one who said anything, most of the dj's said they were going to leave do there own thing etc, but they didn't making them a back stabber to me for sticking up for them and telling everyone else's views.

As a general rule of thumb: when humans do not fully understand something, they guess. They are free to assume anything they wish, unless provided with a valid statement explaining the truth.

To me, and a lot of other people, ThinkHabbo has ridiculed itself time and time again. After it lost its official status, you complained that people were jumping to assumptions, trying to find a reason for this happening. None of the ThinkHabbo staff provided a reasonable, backed up statement explaining what people wanted to know, so people assumed. And until the human race becomes omniscient (which ain't in my lifetime, baby), they will continue to guess and assume.

To those of us that are not as informed as yourself, it does look like a huge mess up by ThinkHabbo, or a huge publicity stunt. I've never really known Thrived or nicci - but from what I've heard, they've been subjected to the boot of Mr Kay. Why say you are going to close the site, then keep it open, then close it with a message of closure, then open it and pretend nothing happened? If you have a viable explanation for this - I urge you to divulge us, because it ain't lookin' too good for TH atm.

Nkay does look down his nose at people - yet he gets drunk, goes on air, and starts swearing? Sorry, he's not as innocent is it's made out. Oh, and he has a terrible sense of humour, if he gets kicks from winding up his long serving site staff. Let's not forget "leaving" stunts... Oh, and requesting donations from the very people he wipes his feet on? We need a reality check - there is only one queen in this country, and no matter how many "drama queen" properties Mr Kay displays, he is no better than the rest of our motley bunch. (This is not a thread about Nkay though... it's about ThinkHabbo. Those two are so closely intertwined that it's hard to differenciate... but I will try and keep away from that subject.)

Noes, noes - I do believe that. It's a reasonable explanation - and yet people twist, distort, and warp it into every way possible. I agree - the rumours that speculate more than what you've stated are pretty darn far fetched, and deserve to be squashed.

However, to threaten to close, then decide not to, THEN close it for hours before reopening... I see indecisive management. Indecisive management is going hurt big time, somewhere along the line. That's the reason people assume (including myself) it was a stunt - because of the indecisive nature we've seen, and the behaviour Mr Kay has displayed over the whole issue.

I can tell you now that it was not a stunt. Nkay decided on his own to close the site after finding out about the fine. He did not discuss the closure with anybody and was certain he was going to close. Later in the day we had a meeting with the online Management and decided to keep the site open for as long as possible. So none of this was planned and as much as it may seem like a stunt, it was not.

Anyway, we wouldnt pull a stunt that is likely to lose us staff and listeners are we?

It's likely to have lost a few over the past couple of days. Another couple of threads in a forum aren't going to drastically increase the listener count - ThinkHabbo gets such love here all the time. The actual escapade that went on (such as the "drama" nicci mentioned)... they might have gained overall, or they might have just straight lost. Could have gone either way - and we have no way of justifying either argument without figures.

I can tell you now that it was not a stunt. Nkay decided on his own to close the site after finding out about the fine. He did not discuss the closure with anybody and was certain he was going to close. Later in the day we had a meeting with the online Management and decided to keep the site open for as long as possible. So none of this was planned and as much as it may seem like a stunt, it was not.

Anyway, we wouldnt pull a stunt that is likely to lose us staff and listeners are we?

This is my own prime, personal opinion about Thinkhabbo and all aspects of the site and the owners.

First off i'd like to say how immature the people who 'follow' Thinkhabbo are. All they do is go round public rooms - lag you to hell and flood the room like hell with "Thinkhabbo.com - Tune in" adverts. The majority of the listeners are immature - in the way that they act, and their age which might explain alot of their actions but it's still no excuse to act like a pre-teen, immature and pathetic person.

Secondly we get onto Nkay., or Ngay. as he's more commonly known. The first thing is that the layout for Thinkhabbo was stolen by NKay and he removed D2's copyright - unless they told him he had permission - this is against copyright laws. All Nkay. wants is for people to love him, in my opinion he is a vein teenager who needs a reality check.

You might all say i'm jealous - but seriously, what is there to be jealous of? A community of immature kids? No, why would I be jealous of that? I respect the fansites who grab the attention of users and such by holding competitions, advertising the proper way - room names, missions etc.

Overall I wish Thinkhabbo would rot in hell - along with the owner because basically I think that's all they deserver because all they have done is annoy, spam and flood us AND THAT'S NOT ON.

Exactly, I mean it wasn't even an official website/forum/radio of Habbo's but LOADS of people used to tune in and, like someone said before, make your computer LAG like hell when they advertised it. I am aware of what I posted, and I made no link between SharpeNews or the DPA. You are responding to an argument that never existed, which is a waste of energy, IMO. I wasn't aware this is a thread for flaunting hits either. But come on, "reputable news company" that puts news about ThinkHabbo alongside topics such as terrorism (oh, and with "reporters" that can't type, can't differenciate between upper case and lower case, don't understand grammar, and skipped a lesson at school where they talked about paragraphing)? :s

Let just say of a time when myself and nicci set the dj rules. A rule was that djs were not permitted to go on air and ask for donations. What does nigel do? Go on air and steal a slot from a perfectly good DJ to beg for green plasto for a cola cafe he never uses. Come on thats pathetic

Yes, He looks like some alien so I dont why he continually repeats how sexy he thinks he is. To Nicci's and KCmac's replies to Antony, I think both of you got out at the right time, I dont think we needed to be told of the stories about behind the scenes as its easy to understand they're all up themselves just like Nkay with his scamming antics.

And about the flooding thing too, Whenever I did listen to thinkhabbo it was Nicci mentioning not to flood the rooms, Atleast she cared about not getting the people they lured in getting banned. Some people do have some sense. Like I said, I think its best you both and the rest of the masquerade that left after they realised how pathetic Nkay was for a second time have done the right thing. Best not to be involved with pri*** like them. :)
