RANT: Webdesign Section

I am sick of the webdesign section these days. All it seems to be is some of the following: Making DJ Panel, Needing DJ Panel, Where can I find Dentafrice's DJ Panel, Visit My Host, Coding Layouts For £45. Now you may be thinking, "Well it is the webdesign section, thats what it's for!" technically yes, it's correct, but the older members of HabboxForum will know what I mean, such as Mentor (who some of you know as 01011010entor) and Nets (now known as joshua) people used to help people here with coding etc, it was jam packed with

Complety agree, its a pitty, and why i dont post so much now days, i made a rant along these lines a while back... not much has realy changed, since people dont actualy want help with stuff now, they ether want u to do it for them, or are trying to sell somthing "/

Back in the days of 2005 when James Carl and Charlie were frequent posters it was awesome but now you get idiotic wannabes who say they can code HTML and PHP but have no idea how to declare a DTD of a variable.

Plus Habbox have a thing for banning all of the good people from the Web Design section for some reason, whenever I have seen a constructive post they seem to get banned =[

There is no such thing as expandable tables if thats what you mean, they all expand just don't set a height value or better yet use standards complient XHTML 1.0 without the XHTML MIME Type as IE doesn't recognise XHTML yet.

I totally agree with you Dan. Make a marketplace such as Sitepoint or DigitalPoint. It would rid the webdesign section of "Buy my 1337z l4y0t". Also we definately need to get rid of the coding section. +Rep to Dan, George.

Yep. Sitepoints main problem is the payment thing or i'm sure there would be many more posts. The good thing is only people who are seriously good designers/coders post as they aren't going to waste $20.

I was at SitePoint before all the payments and it was SPAM in a lot of it, but now it's heavily moderated and hardly any scamming which is brilliant.

Thats the thing.. people in this forun should NOT be selling things.. this is a web design not a marketplace.. go barter your sheep somewhere else.

You should help people learn how to code their layouts and how to fix their PHP errors. Not baby them and do it for them. Or just give them the script where they know no clue about it.

At the risk of feeling olde, thats the second gen, the orignal bunch included people such as <james> and a few others whom no long use these forums at all, and was also when alot of the people listed were still in quite a noobish stadge "/ .. although this is way back, prior to learning php myself even, back when 8freak8 actualy posted in this section and the like, and the webdesign team on habbox was actualy made up of people who knew html....

Way back when that was, people actualy coded layouts for free when asked, and everyone helped everyone out, those who started not knowing eventaly learnt due to it... but alas dureing a few dsiagreemnts with the forums managment, i and most the good webdesigners at the time were banned "/ and the majorty never returned.. "/

ps. the exposeing people fad was amuseing, personly i didnt cair whether i was shown or not.. which lead 2 me never been "exposed" lol... this was also the time when habbox was under attack by msg? i think it was, they took down habbox for a day, a bad move since i was left with **** all to do, so corrupted the forum db... turns out the nulled vb's all null most the secuty features :p

I agree 100% its full of people making fansites and crap now but back in the good ol days 2004 or early 05 it was people genrally interested in webdesign and people could take criticism, unlike now if you say the colour scheme doesnt really work very well they say You try better you f**king n00b.

I dunno if its been said cause i cba to read the whole thread but i think one of the reasons the webdesign section has gone downhill is because of 'wannabe hosts'

No, just no. Web Design has nothing to do with "spam". If you're so bothered about people requesting money to code a layout, or whatever - complain to admin, request "selling" layout's banned, whatever it takes. It's the easiest way, more than likely.
