LMAO.
It must of been pretty much identical then.. :P
I'm surprised no one passed out actually too (I don't think they did) the people who were taken to hospital where treated for shock ^_^
Well, I did kind of emphasis on the "just the other week" thing, It was when I was in liverpool.

It happens!
i'm a townboy at heart, grown up in scotland's biggest town and going to glasgow myself takes me 4 hours... that's because i'll get lost trying to get from queen street to the other trainstation!
ontopic: erm bad luck to those people?

Urgh I barely know my home town, Let alone anywhere else!
Anywayz, I'd hate to be stuck like that (Rather a silly remark from me) wouldn't mind it AS much if that happened at a themepark, but a fair.. no way.. I'd be pretty scared, Response was pretty bad imo, it took them ages to get them down

LOL I WAS THERE!
Lol it was really scary lol - felt really sorry for them.
It took one hour for them to get sitting up again and then another hour to get them all off!
I was actually in line for the next like round of that ride and would've been on it if I was 5 minutes earlier haha.
It was in Strathclyde park - which is where M&D's is (if that helps). Lol - it's the biggest themepark in Scotland.
It was minging though, cause people were being sick and stuff and it was like flying everywhere :|

ROFL! - Yeah..
Luckily nobody died, because being suspended upside down for more than 3 minutes increases your chance of dieing by 50 times, FACT.. My science teacher told me (H)

I had a weird feeling someone would of been there :P
All I can say is that your verry lucky you weren't on it ^_^
I'm surprised no one died/was critically injured either..
If I sit upside down (Yes I do it often on my bed:rolleyes:) for just a minute or two I feel horrible.
I can't see why it took so long to get them down, Surely the response could of been better?

The way it was really did look difficult. I was really curious to how they would get them down cause it did look really, really tricky. All the other rides and that got closed down cause of it n loads of people had to go home early, lol.
Well one person ended up getting hypithermia but that was the worst, luckily.

How did they get it down in the end?
Did they get the people off it in that position (Can't really see how they'd do that..:s) or swing the ride back around somehow?

I would say that they would brake the lift mechagnism (sp) and use the auto-balancer to bring the ride back to the ground and level.
Think on the lines of slammer at thorpe park, and your on the right track. :)

Would you want to break a ride that cost a few million quid?
-Soph-
08-11-2006, 08:22 AM
Would you want to risk killing/seriously injuring the people on it?
I guess you do have a point though..
few million for one? Wow..

It took ages for the fire brigade to come actually... The police where there first and they closed off all the other rides and people were getting refunds and stuff. Then the ambulances came with blankets and all that for people but the fire brigade didn't come till like an hour or so into it all...
Think they maybe thought the right could jsut be fixed, and it was bonfire night remember so they were really busy...

And someone still got hypothermia didn't they?
Must of been a cold night..

Yeah.. Anywhere the police tend to get there first.
Take school today for example, someone fell down the stairs and broke their back - Guess who came first? Our mate PC Plod! - Followed by the ambulance, only like 1 minute later though.. Argh, it's not nice having to show a copper where to go in a school :(
Annnyyywaaaayyyy, at least they got there!

This is really odd. Knowing absolutly loads about fair rides did anyone see in the news about the 'Evolution' ride at GT.Yarmouth pleasure beach?
That was stuck up-side-dwon for 6 and a half mins. And 2 people passed out. This was upside down for more than that yet mo one was treated for any other things other than shock :O

I've been wondering that as well.. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that the people on this ride at this time were more tolerant to it..
it is strange though.
