What is the default size for an image to fit width across a browser page.
With no scroll or anything.
800x600 is the lowest common resolution.

But the design i did was 800x600 and it was too small.
Yes because you are on a bigger resolution.

:l
But when I see another 800x600 image - it fills the browser page.
Well then set the width/height of table/div to 100%

its 600 x 780 now can a new browsers the scrollbar is always there so 600 x 800 would cause a scrollbar the width of the vertical scrollbar
craigg.

I use 600 x 780 all the time, for two reasons. One reason is that if a person was viewing on a 800x600 screen resolution, there would be no room to see the background, and the second reason is that with the 780 x 600 desgin, the scroll bar takes some of that space up, and if your design is big, it will push outwards and cause the design to have scrollbars.
