The people at IGN have reported some minor problems with the PS3.

Some points I have picked up:

The browser is much like the PSP's. Limited flash support, and no support for other media plugins.

Some games for the PS2/1 that require special controllers cannot be played.

PS3 is region-locked, unlike the PSP which can play anything from anywhere.

Bluetooth support appears to not work.

PS3 does not support nested folders.

PS3 cannot be set to sleep mode like the PSP

PS1 or 2 games have to be manually upscaled on HD TVs.

Inability to change the background.

Still, not too shabby. =]

its not gonna drive sony to debt. sony makes a lot more products than just consoles and games. I think its gonna pick up once it hits europe and NA and SA.

Omg.
There are always problems.
The PS3 is not gonna sell as good as it would of if it was released when it was suppose to.

Too much delay time and everyone is getting angry.

Sony in debt to the Japanese government? A couple of obvious questions there, but anyway, I very much doubt that.

Financial reports recently reported Sony with a 71% loss this year and will stay losing money for years to come. Because of this poor performance, their debt allowance has been lowered, meaning they are allowed to borrow less money than usual. I'm not sure the debt is with the Japanese government itself, but Sony is in huge debt nonetheless.

By the way, for this year, Sony are down 35%, you're looking at core operating results from July-September.

Attempt at ownage was owned.

Anyhow, those aren't massive problems, and should be easy to fix with firmware updates. Just beware of the inevitable hardware failures to come.

I dont see any big problems there. Nothing needed or important for a console lol. Better than the xbox problems where the machine ate up the cd lol.

Most are related to PS2/1 or PSP which isnt really the aim of the PS3 although the PSP is going to play a role in the PS3 :).

That wasn't a problem with the 360, that was a problem with user-stupidity.

No it wasnt it was a hardware problem when you tipped it up at a certain angle and it overheated

Sony IMO don't have a chance. The 360 has a far superior price/quality ratio.

PS3 looks great, but it's going to go the way the PSP went, the PSP was marketed as a game console even though it's better used a media player.
