Okay everyone in our school has been warned, but they are practically doing nothing about it!
There is a man, in his forties or something, stalking kids, teenagers and he hangs around our school untill people come out. I walk alone. No one to walk with. Not many people actually walk home from school, but I have heard him following me before.
I don't have a clue what to do. They just say 'don't talk to him and walk fast'
He can most likely outrun me and so what if I ignore him?
My school is crap and give out bad advice
And shouldn't the police be aware of this, 'cause I have seen none!

If your afraid, tell your parents and they might talk to the school or the police. I would contact the police or something to put up a CCTV camera or w.e to watch this guy.
Or, if you have a phone on you, always keep it on record so if he approaches you and talks to you, its record for future reference.

Clever :)
But my parents know about this
I THINK the police know about this but not doing much.
My parents recieved an email about this, but they aren't bothered.
I will try and explain and I will keep my phone on record :)
Clever :)

Catch the bus home if available?
But you shouldnt be scared. So i think you should hassle your parents, school and police into doing something. Because when that guy does something, the school, your parents, police and students and going to wish they did something before.

The police will have been notified already, and just because you haven't seen any doesn't mean they aren't doing their jobs.

Carry a Pen knife or something, Police in most cases are completly useless.

Try && walk with a friend? Or ask for a lift.. instead of you walking?
If he does approach you, don't panic, well try not to, because the person will get more tempted. Just walk fast, or run. Try and not to look at whats going on behind you.

If he follows you, make sure he's aware of you're confidence and you're not bothered by him. It'll be hard to do but he's probably aware you're scared of him. If i were you i'd try walking different ways or at least stay in school until he's gone unless you can walk in group's with others.
I'd also tell your school you want police escourts or help, if you request something they HAVE to follow it up.

Carry a pen knife, use it if he tries any funny business..
In most cases, the police are useless.. You ring 999, they take 10 minutes to get there.. Im being serious about that too :]
Report him to the police, so they are deffinataly aware.

No, don't carry a weapon in means of self defence, it will get you into alot of unnecessary problems.
Just make sure you're always with friends and not on your own when walking to/from school.

I wouldn't suggest anything like a penknife but why not get something along the lines of pepperspray? :) And ask for a lift or walk close to a group of people, And I would also suggest you try going different ways home if possible otherwise he might find out your route home and that :s

Dont the Police use CS Spray?? Or summit? Try get something which can harm his eyes. Dont go the way you usually ago, cos he could find out where you live, try different routes. Just ignore him and be confident, walk home with mates or near people, or get a lift or stay in school! Im sure if you nag your teachers about this stalking you may be able to get a lift with the teachers - Probably embarassing but better to be safe than sorry.
If you ever get scared and think something bads really gonna happen, just walk up to a house and knock, explain whats happening and act like you know them and ask if you can come in, I know it's a risk, but you dont know. Also, you could go into a shop and explain it like the same with the home thing and just ask for help! Just make sure people are aware of the situation.
Best of Luck :]

We had this problem when I was in school, but luckily the girls I hung round with I walked home with them in a big group. So we were virtually safe. But one girl was found to be talking to a guy that matched his description.
I suggest you walk home with a group of people that live near you and don't walk down alleyways, walk down fairly big roads.

CS Spray/Pepper spray is classed as a fire arm..
So if I was you, I wouldn't use it.. Unless of course you want to be surrounded by armed police and charged with position of a fire arm?

The guy who made the comment about the police taking 10 minutes - well sorry mate but their not blimming magical and can just appear out of thin air you know. They need to make sure they know it's definetley an emmergency and actually locate where their going - it's not just a case of you dial the numbers and they turn up 10 seconds later.
It is a bit of a tricky one. However, if your feeling a bit unsafe by this I think you should definetley discuss this with your parents. They may not be bothered at the moment, but tell them your not happy with it and refuse to go and walk home from school anymore for your own safety. Tell them you want some sort of transport arranged - perhaps a relative could pick you up, or tell them your not walking on your on. Maybe one of your parents or a relative or close family friend could come and meet you at the school to walk home with you, and if all of this is impossible - then why not just ask someone from school to walk with you? I'm sure there will be other people walking on their own feeling the same, so why not kill two birds with one stone and help each other...

Police station is a 2 minute walk from my house, I rang 999 because someone had broke in my house yeah.. I would say that was an emergency? - Especially since they where still in here..
10 minutes later, 2 coppers walk in the door and my dads like "Your a bit late now they've gone".
Luckly, the person that broke in was out of his face and my dad had hit him making him even more slower at getting away and the police managed to arrest him down the road but thats not the point!
Yeah, there not magical - But with the police station being less than half a mile away they could have got here quicker.

Fair enough - but your emmergency isn't the only one. They have a system in which they prioritise things. If it was the case that the officers that arrived came from the police station nearest you - which actually doesn't always happen - then I'm pretty certain something more serious was happening in your area in which the police were required more urgently.

Whats a Fire Arm? and btw surely it's gonna be worse if she takes a penknife and ends up killing somebody...

I always carry a knife now.. Once when I walked my dogs (my bro wasn't feeling well, we normally take them together) at around 9:30pm here this car stopped right next to me opened the door, came out and this pretty tall guy with brownish hair wearing a leather jacket came up to me and asked for directions.. My dogs started barking and I ran my butt off. It was pretty scary. Carry a knife, sure it can kill people, but if you're confident and you try and show that you know how to use it he will back away. I highly doubt some 40 year old would try and stand up to a kid with a switchblade on the street.
Or you could get a lift home, lol.

Lol. Seriously though, if I had a knife right then, I wouldn't use it.. I would maybe pull it out and try and scare him but i'd be frozen if he acctually tried to kidnap me lol.
In elementary there was kidnappings around my city and this car kept driving around my school till we all came out and then they sat and watched us. Freaky.

they had a guy like that at my school but he only went in the park and all he basically did was flash his bits and bobs at the young girls. so for about a month the police would stop us from walking home through the park

the red bit i'd do somot like walk in sqwiggles around and never keep to the same route, maybe even walking on the other side of the road can make a difference
We had some really old guy who used to wait outside our school and even swap football stickers etc lol my parents knew him and he had 3 grand kids who were like 3-5 at the time and not at school and he was a decent guy :o well one day we all got summoned to the hall and the school told us some dirty old perv was on the loose even though he was only friendly etc.... well years later he still had a rep for being a molester due to our great school who started a random rumour instead of confronting him to check him out and he died probabably wondering what the hell he had done wrong.
not everybody is bad and schools need to tackle any problems like yours head on even if it is involving the police not just causing panic without good cause.

Hi,
Personally your school should have alerted the police of this "Man" if they haven't then they could get into serious trouble if something were to happen to one of the pupils or even a teacher at that.
If you feel hes following you mu best advice would be to alert the police so they know and take the right action if needed. But it's best to tell the police ASAP before something tragic happens.
Hope that helps!
Thanks,
and remember Stay safe! :) .

Also, the penknife does sound like a good one, If the worst does come to the worst then its always nice knowing that you have something to protect yourself against him
