Who actually thinks the emergency services are any good in the UK?

I mean, you ring 999 for the police they turn up 10 minutes later.

You ring 999 for an ambulance and it turns up 30 minutes later - When someones having an asthmea attack!? [I am not exadurating the slightest bit.. Took 3 minutes to be connected to the ambulance on the phone.. Them LIVES people came in about 2 minutes though]

You ring 999 for the fire brigade and they are there in about 2 minutes

I think it's rubbish but heh..

What do you think?

Yeah fire service are quick. Two weeks ago, at work, there was a fire in the factory part and the fire trucks came about 3 mins after we all got out of the offices. I lived ;]

ye but ambulances round here after midnite go and wait in between 4 places (boston, lincoln, grimsby and mablethorpe) and when they get the 999 calls they go from there..

and my dad just so happens to have asthmea attacks at like 3-4am

it just so happens to be 20 miles away and if you need an ambulance after midnite it usually means 20-30 minute wait :|

Erm yeah they're okay. They're hard worked and few and far between, you forget that.

I called the police while my mate was getting jumped and they turned up an hour later. Last night, an ambulance came in 10 minutes and it was a friday night at 11pm. And he was okay drunk, so it wasn't serious. But then again the police called that

I think they try their best!

they come at the most pointless times, when its actually important they take forever.

they used to always come two or three times EVERY night when my sister lived here.

Like I said before - the times can vary!

They have a system in which they prioritise their calls by emmergency rating, for instance if there is someone getting murdered that they know of (lol) they would obviously go to that call first, rather than someone who had their house egged.

No what I mean?

Although you may class your problem as an emmergency, theres always people worse off than you out there - and there might be a case in your area which is far worse than yours. Just be glad we do actually have an emmergency service that does help.

It depends on your area status, if you are located near the department requested then you will have the advantage of a greater response time. Although traffic and other conditions will apply.

Ambulances are great, they our really quick where I live, you only have to wait about two minutes, police cars are rubbish where I live seeing as we have the worse police force and fire engines are really quick also.

uh huh her

They could be better.. I agree with Ostinato though.

The fire, ambulance and police station are down the same road where I live, so they take around the same time. Although, saying that, police vans patrol quite often so they're relitivaly quick..

My Dad once had to call the police because a bunch of chavs were hurling stones at our house I think that counts as an emergency to bad it took them 2 hours to get here

Its totally crap. Well the police is anyway. From my experience, Ambulance and Fire Service are good, but the police is totally crap. My mate got robbed in the park a few months ago, he rang 999, and the police said they will be there in 2 mins, and he waited for 40 mins and they didnt come.

Makes me chuckle actually, because just imagine if there's a disturbed man in your house with a knife or a weapon and is threatening to stab you, what do you do? Ring the police wait for 10-20 minutes for them to finally arrive at your house in the meantime he's slashed your guts out. But if you don't you have the job of trying to pry the weapon out of the mans hands, it's a tricky society we all live in to be honest. Anybody noticed that they're always at the pub if something goes wrong? It's because they get a free drink with it!
