Heyy.
Is this just a form of popularity status now? It would seem the people who are turning BI in my area is on the rise.. mostly from Emo people who think it's cool to be BI..
I had a convosation with this guy the other day..
"Heyy. I'm Leigh"
"Hey im *name*Josh"
"Cool. So.. you gay?"
"Well.. no.. i'm BI"
"Cool. How long have you known"
"Not long.. i like women like way more than i like men.. but i think some men are attractive"
It's like.. Hello?
I think theres a confusion being spread through youths today that if you find another boy attractive your gay.. but you cant be gay because you like girls.. so your BI.
Little do they know, it's more than likely there hormones racing.
Anyone any ideas/points?

i'm not sure. i know like some people have said people just do it for the attention, but they might partly be saying it because like the world we live in today accepts gay/bi/lesbians a lot more than say, 50 years ago. even 20.

Most [Mostly girls] do bisexual acts and say they are bisexual for attention off men ! Also alot of emos say they are bisexual just to be that extra bit different :s

I believe that alot of people are thinking they are Bi when they are 13/14 when it's just hormones being all-over the place. I agree how it's suddenly become a trend to becombe bi when being an 'emo' so they can be that bit more unique[unique, my behind]

I agree with Truth.. i think it's more of a status thing now.
But let's get down to the REAL "BiSexual" people.. do we think that actually exists in modern day society or is it just people unsure about who they are?

well, i disagree with that.
i'm bisexual. i prefer boys, but still, i like girls. i havn't determined what gender i will end up with when i am older, although i think there is more chance of it being a boy than girl. but, real bisexuals do still exist.

i think there are some people who do it for the attention, just cos its 'cool' to be bi or whatever. or it might just be, as like ben said, now people accept it more, people come out more than they used too.
plus it might just be hormones & stuff going wild.
well, i disagree with that.

I agree with Craig about the hormones thing. I went through a "bi" phase about 2 years ago now (just before I turned 15 really) and looking back I'll agree that there was a sort of fashion to it. There were only about 4 or 5 of us who actually acted on our new-found bisexual wants and needs, and all the others backed away in fear whenever anything started getting rowdy :P
I'm actually completely straight now (well, 98% perhaps) and I'm sure I always was, just the hormones issue.
edit: of course there are real bisexuals around, but the majority of people over 16 who claim to be bi (in my experience) are just people who'll take it from anyone.

I think it's annoying how some people become bisexual just because others do.
It's a trend for some people.
But yeah there are proper bi people who actually like both genders and stuff.
People at my school are really close minded.
If you say something about gay/bi/les they're like;
"EEW I think all gays should die"
:/

yeah ben but alot of the people on hxf and stuff are bi.
People at school annoy me when they're like that.
Like Heather for instance she says she hates all lesbians and wants them to all die.
Harsh.

a lot, yes. but not 99%. there are still more straight than bisexual, the amount of polls that practically prove that. though they can never be 100% accurate.
and yeah, people are like. omg you *** **** off.

I think, some of the time, people think they are bisexual because they find someone of the same sex pretty or sexy and get confused about it and think "oh i think so and so is good looking so i must be bi". Whereas, like others said, it could be due to hormones.
I think the whole bi trend is actually pretty lame, and i, myself was bi for sometime, and it wasn't because of any trend or anything, but because i actually loved/liked members of the same sex, but when i was, i preferred girls more.
I think that being bi, is just you like one gender more, but you still like the other gender a little bit, which creates a confusion, so your become bi.

Likewise for my area. Being bi was never a trend here. Unless your straight, you'll be bullied and discriminated. It's silly really.

I didn't know Biwas a trend. :s thats seems stupid to me.in some areas it is, well people seem to think. i don't think so really.. i just think that in this society we have today people feel more comfortable with coming out. no one can really tell as only the person knows their proper feelings.

My question is how can you find both women and man to be good, and even if you like women more shouldent you think as yourself straight. Im sure everyone likes some boys but its not like your bi to thinking the odd 1 or 2 maybe in your school is it.

no, it's not the odd one or two. you can still like both genders, but like one more. and when i say like both genders i don't mean think 'oh they look gd yh kk' i mean actually like them. and obviously you won't see how people can like both genders as you don't, and you only know what you feel. quite narrow minded.

Most teenagers go thru the stage when they "am i or aint i" and as bisexual in the middle so they might just say they bisexual as they not sure of what they are?

I think there is an element of fashion about it, I thought it funny on habbo the other day some lad messaged me and said 'I have decided to become gay' I was like what? He was like ‘I am now gay’; I was like ‘the other day you were making homophobic remarks to people’ He said ‘well I had a think about it and decided I am going to be gay a lot of people on here are’ I gave up in the end lol.
In some places its easier to declare yourself bi than gay because gay is tooo extreme for them.
