It'd be to small even with the text, that layout takes up about 9% of my screen.

Shut up! Duh!
In my opinion 550 is to thin my flash layouts are 550 but it doesnt matter as your eyes are drawn to the movement

The usual layout width is anywhere between 800-1024?

It can be smaller but no bigger otherwise pointless really.

The design is impractical, it looks like a letterhead more than a layout.

550 is tiny on someone using 800x600 LOL DUH.

I'm using a higher screen resolution than that, most layouts are made for either 1024 x 786 or whatever the width is.

Layout's are made to suit all screen resolutions actually.

Netik[/LEFT];2573519]Layout's are made to suit all screen resolutions actually.

Actually if you ask most designers they design for whatever I said upwards, no one uses 800x600 anymore..

Irregardless of that, the layout is tiny on any screen resolution.

Yes it is, hence it's impractical.

I know understand that 8x6 is going down in popularity as they don't make the screens any more?

So, with that in mind the layout needs to be a fair size.

Actually, I mostly make the content around 750px to 800px wide, so its still viewable to 800x600's, but to any higher res people, itll look good
