Germany didn't have any control. Hitler bribed the people into voting him into power by creating the brands "Volks". Which is "old German" for People. The "VolksWagen" was then intorduced [Peoples Car] at a cheep price so that people would buy them. Hitler then went on to create severel other Volks items, Radios etc...

I mean, wouldn't you vote someone into power if they were offering you cheep goods which were of high quality?

Besides that this is exactly what Tony Blair and George Bush is doing in Iraq now except Iraq can't fight back.
