and so it isn't so clogged up, wouldn't it be better if locked threads automatically got deleted after a month or a week? Maybe the same for threads without posts in, that stops them being bumped and then locked too.

Locked threads will just go to to bottom of the forum anyway, so it should matter, unless off course they have been stuck :).
