I haven't done an alteration in a long time so after getting True Crime Streets of LA for christmas (It was a good game when I had it on xbox so I got it on PC) I decided to make a habbo alteration of the main character, Nick Kang.

Personal Comment: The character in the game is of a semi-asian background so naturally I put on the asian eyes habbo designed. I wasn't too happy with them so I started to change them until they were the right shape I wanted. I borrowed the hair and jacket from a habbo hotel image and changed the shading and erased the errors. I'd prefer you didn't comment on the background as it's simply a few basic tiles and the habbo brick wall paper edited slightly. CC please.

Here's a version without the gun.

Please keep in mind the background is just there so it's not left all alone.
It didn't look good on my regular character background so I just quickly made that.
With the hair, there might be too much of it so i will experiment

Looks too flat to be honest, not enough character detail in quite a few places. Overall its a semi-decent alteration.
6/10.

Too flat? Don't know what your going on about there.
And about the detail, according to my refference I think I've done quite a bit of detail. A "semi-decent alteration" I believe would have simply left the eyes purely from habbo, or not paid attention to the baggy pants.
Explain your comment further please.
Edit: Oh, it's you :)

Why can't you except critisism on your alterations? I've explained all that I've needed to explain.
Deal with it.

I don't see why people are saying its 'flat' as it definately does not seem flat. I really like this. The hair looks fine and I do not think it needs changing. 9/10+Rep :)

I can accept criticism as long as It's fair and is from someone who actually has the brains to criticise and judge the piece.
However, you have not explained yourself clearly, you have simply said it's flat and the character lacks detail.
Since you probably don't know what my reference is you can hardly comment on the amount of detail. And as for it being flat, well I disagree. This all coming from the guy who Roboevil made his avatar all by himself.
With the eyes:
I think the right one (Character right) aren't as good as I'd like them to be.
Thanks everyone for your comments I'll have a few stabs at improving.

Pathetic its just a man with a gun. You may aswell draw a woman in a dress and say its britney spears... it looks flat too.
Is it supposed to be the guy out of true crime flat streets of LA?

Firstly, Pathetic is a word i use when i talk about you.
And secondly, not only do you obviously not know what the alteration is based off it is clear you do not know how the word 'flat' was used and finally, It is also clear that you are some immature kid who wishes to the be next pro altersion artest
eg.
Worst alteration ever.

Can you be a bit more specific?
What bothers you about the hair? Length? Colour? Shading? Position? Shape?
What bothers you about the shadow?
Please tell me so I can work on it.

I might just be my coputer but the lighting on the suit is sort of too light and the pants are to dark, and the colour on the hair kind of bothers me.

The hair's black and it has a few tones in it. I'm a bit confused about what your saying.
When I make alts/look at other alts in detail especially ones with darker colours in them I usually change the background around them to the dark red on the default paint pallet (Although you don't use it?) or if I really want a good look, I'll change the background to black. Perhaps that might help you have a good look at it to tell me what's up.

Okay The hair has like some spikyness that annoys me, and the shadows under the arm are light so I can't see it very well, and the pants have to munch shading its sort of too dark if you ask me

Thank you, that's what I needed.
I've tidied the hair up a bit and it's looking more like the picture.
I'm going to experiment with the jacket tones but I think I'll leave the pants as they are they have a bit of looseness to them so that's a reason for some extra shading.

I like it. Changing the eyes is something you don't see alot of on character alterations. I really like the eyes on this one and yes, it would look like he's from an asian background. About the hair, I have played LA and I own the game and to me, as a fan, the hair looks fine. The jacket is very well done if a little too straight. Maybe some light shading for creases? It's just a suggestion. I like the way you made the black jeans(?) look baggier than normal jeans. The shoes are fine but a bit plain. I do understand that is how they look in the game but even just changing the colour of the laces would help (from a pixel artists point of view).

Thanks for that comment, precise and to the point.
I've decided to 'comb' the hair a little. I agree with your comments about the jacket's creases. I might try them. And with the shoes, when I was recolouring them black I was thinking "Hmm maybe I should at least do some shading on these if not use a different shoe"
+rep for you and Demynx

Ok, I have changed the shoes slightly, tamed the hair so it's just smooth except for the fringe and I have changed the shading colours on the jacket.

Rather than draw him in his underwear, he decided to draw him the way most would recognise him. And about the dark coloured clothes, it's supposed to be dark. He's one of those "renegade cops on the edge" type things.

Im not sayin draw him so ppl wouldnt recognize him Im sayin it looks a bit dark so if you cant change the clothes because thats how he dresses then maybe put it on a lighter backdrop duh.

I don't exactly see why you've flattened the feet or changed the shape of the trousers, but other than that, It's all perfect, especially the eyes, love what you've done with them (+rep)

No, I wanted to draw him like this - Afterall it's a game about shifty crime business is a city full of law breakers.
Thread closed - If you can think of any decent CC then pm me and I may even rep you.
Edit: Just one more thing I want to say. The feet have hardly been flattened, the shoes are just less chunky than the other ones - They are different shoes.
And the pants are a bit baggy because that's how they are towards the ankles.
