View Full Version : Joints; ACK
I have really weird joints. You know how people can crack their fingers, and what ever,
well all my joints crack.
my neck, back, knees, ankels, toes, fingers, wrists.. these crack with pressure, eg if i do crack my fingers, but my neck, back and knees dont.
Eg, if i squat, or pull my leg up to my char, my knees will crack. if i bend my neck sidewards they will crack, and if i turn around they will crack. i woke up this moring with a small acke in my back, and i felt really bad,
Any suggestions to stop this?

Your joints can make a variety of sounds: popping, cracking, grinding, and snapping. The joints that "crack" are the knuckles, knees, ankles, back, and neck. There are different reasons why these joints "sound off".
Escaping gases: Scientists explain that synovial fluid present in your joints acts as a lubricant. The fluid contains the gases oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. When you pop or crack a joint, you stretch the joint capsule. Gas is rapidly released, which forms bubbles. In order to crack the same knuckle again, you have to wait until the gases return to the synovial fluid.
Movement of joints, tendons and ligaments: When a joint moves, the tendon’s position changes and moves slightly out of place. You may hear a snapping sound as the tendon returns to its original position. In addition, your ligaments may tighten as you move your joints. This commonly occurs in your knee or ankle, and can make a cracking sound.
Rough surfaces: Arthritic joints make sounds caused by the loss of smooth cartilage and the roughness of the joint surface.
Is joint cracking harmful? If you are feeling pain when your joints pop, than you should seek a health care professional. In terms of knuckle cracking, some studies show that knuckle cracking does not cause serious harm. Other studies show that repetitive knuckle cracking can do some damage to the soft tissue of the joint. It may also lead to a weak grip and a swelling hand.
i got it off a website, read it all and you should understand

oh, i found this too:
Joint cracking, commonly in the ankles and knees when walking up steps, is usually a benign condition that you do not need to worry about. While the exact cause is hard to detect, you are not doing damage to the joints when you hear them crack. If you have pain associated with the cracking joints, then you should be evaluated to make sure there is not an underlying problem. But the average snapping ankles, or creaking knees is not a problem.
i found more!!
Does the joint cracking cause arthritis?
It's unlikely that joint cracking is a significant cause of arthritis. Joint cracking is usually painless, and so long as it does not cause pain, most doctors agree that you are unlikely to be doing any harm. There are some conditions that can cause a joint cracking that need to be addressed, but these tend to cause symptoms of pain.
If you have joint cracking that cause pain, you should be evaluated by your doctor. Otherwise, you are not likely to cause any problems, including arthritis, by your joints cracking.
thanks for making this thread, cause you've helped me too.. lol

ye it's totally normal like that guy said ^ aslong as it doesnt hurt. i'm pretty much same except for wrists?:s didn't know they could crack. Most of the time it's just a habit and you deliberately do it, well i do anyway i dont think its serious enough to go to a doctor about. Back ache or neck ache was probably just from the way you were layed
