Managing Miscellania - Make money without doing anything.

I was talking to Dan (-legoman-) one day and he encouraged me to manage Miscellania. Thank you Dan. :D This is a great way to make money and level your skills without having to do (too) much. I made this guide to share this way of making money with you all. :D (If you rep me, please rep Dan too.)



Making money, the lazy way.

When you completed Throne of Miscellania you become the regent of Miscellania and people will work for you, if you pay them. Your people will collect resources for you, they will collect ores, fish, herbs and wood for you, they'll also collect hardwood and seeds for you if you've done Royal Trouble.
You got to make your people content with you to make them work better, you can do this by helping them collect resources.

Requirements when you've only completed Thone of Miscellania (one of the following):
- Level 30 Mining and a pickaxe to help Miner Magnus.
- Level 45 Woodcutting and an axe to help Lumberjack Lief.
- Level 10 Farming and a rake to help Gardener Gunnhild.
- Level 40 Fishing and a lobster pot to help Fisherman Frodi.

Requirements when you've completed Royal Trouble aswell (one of the following):
- Level 35 Woodcutting and an axe to help the Etceterian carpenter.
- Level 10 Farming and a rake, a watering can or a bucket of compost to help the Etceterian farmer.
- Or the levels mentioned above.


Managing your kingdom

Now it's time to order your servants to collect resources, do this by speaking to Advisor Ghrim who can be found in King Vargas's throne room in the Miscellanian palace. Talk to him and select the "'How is the Kingdom faring" option. He'll tell you how content the people are. Then he'll ask you if you want the resources collected by the servants. After this he'll bring up the control panel, you can now control what the servants have to collect. You can now deposit or withdraw money to pay the servants. I advice you to put 900k in the chest if you've done both the quests, it takes out 10% of the cash a day, maximum 75k, so 900k should give you 3 days to do nothing. :P Put in 600k if you've only done Throne of Mischellania, it'll take out 50k a day. You can have a maximum of 5m in the chest, 7.5m if you've done Royal Trouble.

Keeping your people happy.

Now it's time to satisfy your people, go outside and help them collect resources, you'll get a very small amount of xp for those skills, untill you reach 100%. The people will tell you when you reached 100%, they'll tell you that you've done enough. Normally it should only take a few logs to get 100% again.

The resources.
The resources your servants will get are:
- Teak logs
- Mahogany logs
- Maple logs
- Herbs
- Coal
- Cooked or uncooked fish
- Herb Seeds
You will also get birdnests dropped from trees, this is a great way to get tree seeds. :)



Collecting your resources.

When you've waited for at least 1 day you can go back to collect the resources. I wanted the servants to get maple logs, herbs and teak logs, this is what I got after 1 day:

Depends what you want them to collect and what you're going to use yourself.

In 2 days I got about 40 Unids, 300 teak logs and 890 maple logs, calculate and find out. :D

about 200k so 100k a day unless you id herbs and get good herbs or even if you turn the teak into planks it wud be more like 250-300k every 2 days :P still pretty good for doing nothing

Lol no. 150k, but you also get good tree seeds and bird nests, which will get you another 200k+ if you don't use them yourself of course.
Seeds are probably a better way to make money because you get herb seeds. *edits guide*
Sell the seeds or farm them and sell the herbs, more profit there. :)

You can only put a skill up so far and they collect a max amount of whatever you told them too

How did you get so much? I got about a third of that & i have put the same amount of cash into it. My best seed though was Palm Tree :eusa_danc

I've set it differently now. The herb bar is full, lol, the maple bar us less than half full and I've set 1 bit to coal. :D Will post what I get tomorrow.

It's all up to you, if you need flax or if you think flax'll make you a nice profit, make them collect flax. :D

put it like 900k - 1mil and put 100% on maples and rest on flax:eusa_danc

Just did some calculations.

According to tip.it, each coal costs you 91.6 gp.

If I spend 2 mill and solely on coal, and sell them at 190 ea on the forums, I'll make 2.1 mill. If I could use 15 workers in one section, it would take it around 21 days. Unfortunatly, it only takes 10 workers. You can work out the days for yourself.

Too bad its capped at 75k maximum payment per day, otherwise, I can spend 2 mill in one day and make 2.1 mill quicker than ever.

Flax costs 40 ea and sells at 100 ea on the forum. 2.5x
Coal costs 91.6 ea and sells at 190 ea on the forum 1.9x

Flax is more worth it. BUT coal sells faster =D

Joel: herbs arent good, you mainly get lowest ones. Full flax + rest on logs in garunteed (sp) profit :)

If you do both quests.

Just put max on maples
and the rest on flax

after 3 days they use up 225k
you sell all maples/flax and nests which are 3.5k ea
you make around 125k profit just from that.

Then theres the seeds you get that you can sell if you want to ;)
