Need Expert Advise - "Holonetworks"

Hi,
You probably know, i'm making a new site, called Holonetoworks..
And i've been racking my brain to think of an idea, that makes the member do soemthing, before downloading loadsa free stuff...
I've come up with these ideas..

1) A forum, users have to earn a certin amount of forum cash, to download
2) A member system, before you can downlaod anything, you have to sign up
3) Just give everything for free..

Now i like (2). But i've no idea how, or (1) 'cause with shop hack (phpBB) you can't change it to have downloads :(.

What do you think..
If you can do any one of the posibilites, please post.
I've no idea how to do the member thing..

for number 2 u can earn points, ask mentor he has a randomness system on his forum, im sure u can edit that and make it look diffrent?

Well say when people ge 2 a certain point, they will be allowed to download more sripts and stuff like 0 = no scripts 10= a few scripts etc etc like i said ask mentor

I know about the shop, but how then can you make so people with certin amount of cash, DOWNLOAD, certin things and other people can't...
I've no idea :S

Too complicated..
Can you do that with cash mod, make ranks using cash?
.. I now you can with posts, but not sure about cash..
I supose i'll have to if theres no other way though..

So you guys think post count, not cash.. okay that'd be simpler..
For example
Ranks: Member = 10 posts
User = 20 Posts
Then.
Forums: Members Forum
Users Forum..
Etc?
But the high ranks could see the lower ones aswell.. 'cause it'll just be a link to a download page, that's not on the page nav..

Hm.. then people will tell others what the link is :(..
I like that idea though ;)

Could do the same with cutenews hosting / forum hosting ;)

Then we'd have to make lots of download pages, one for each rank..
