View Full Version : I'm sick...
...of people not letting you voice your own opinion.
Now, I don't know where this stands with Moderators because I have had one or two infractions due to voicing my opinion.
NOT ALL opinions are positive - but that's what most forum members and most forum moderators think, they are wrong.
SOME opinions are negative - if you say something negative about something with your opinion then you get infracted.
IF someone only picks out the bad things then that's fine - they just don't find anything nice to say - IT'S THEIR OPINION.
There should be a new rule:
All Forum Member are allowed to voice there own opinion - whether it be negative or positive. Other forum members are expected to respect this opinion but not necesarily agree with it.

I agree, but we don't actually need another thread.
A better idea would be to get loads of members to sign an online petition then present it to whoever you don't like. I'm sure that'll get to them more than the average 'the mods are stooopid' thread.

I don't believe hes talking about the mods but about members in general.
True.
But the mods that give out the infractions for voicing 'negative' opinions infuriate me - although they're only following the rules.
It's not being 'rude' by voicing your opinion and stating the truth.
For example:
If you've been in the web design section as long as me, you'd be sick of people making threads like
'I'm creating my own Habbo Hotel'
so in the end you reply with:
'Look, it won't work - go away and re-consider'
or
'Loads of people have tried it before, and it won't work'
or
'I bet you don't even know Lingo coding'.
We get infractions?
That was just an example - it happens everyday.

You can have a positive or negative opinion of an idea. You can't express a rude opinion about a specific person on this forum to prevent arguments. Simple as :)

Habbox is (supposed) to be a very liberal site when it comes to people's opinions - or at least that's the value me and Sierk try to give the forum managers. If you think you've been infractioned for your opinion you can PM me and I'll look at it. The problem is the second you break another rule in your opinion you'll be infractioned.

I know exactly what you mean there, i Moderate that section. I do believe there should be a rule on opinions/views, but tbh, it all starts when you make a negative comment most people get offended and think you are directly attacking them, which results in them flaming you and the thread going into a mass arguement.
Everybodys human and we do make mistakes, thats why infractions can be reversed.

My "Mentor" account is Banned for an opinion, a negative one yes, a negative one about a forum user indeed also. But still simply an opinion.
Habbox has a very long way to go before it would come close to something i could consider as "liberal" in terms of peoples opinions, even if an opinion is considered offensively, it is no less valid as an opinion.
So even if your believe opinions should be allowed, in a full way, sirek obviously does not "/
i personally accept anyone that thinks im stupid, should die, or anything else abouts me's opinion is valid, all it does is lead to my own opinion that they are stupid or something of a simlar notion, and so on.

Some Forum Moderators/Super Mods/Admins need to realise that in order to talk freely, you need to let go of the leesh and let people voice what they want, as long as it isn't rude and blindly swearing. Opinions come both positive and negative, but Habbox just want the positive, people you get told off for arguing against someones belief. Especially when it is, actually, stupid.

What about freedom of speech? You're for freedom of opinion but not speech, just because you don't agree with their opinion they should not be able to voice it? You should be able to disagree with their opinion but not attack them for having that opinion. "I disagree because ______" is allowed but "You're a ***** what kind of opinion is that shut this thread its stupid" is restricting somebody else from having that opinion.
But in practice this is not whats happening. Your opinion is stupid. Is an equally valid opinion which is not about a specific person, just there opinion on an issue. Yet you yourself argued that it was still against the rules and rude "/
You can disagree with their opinion as I said. But by telling them their opinion is stupid and that it shouldn't be discussed is restricting that person from their opinion. Also, I personally wouldn't get hot and bothered if you seriously said that to me, I would debate it right back, but I wouldn't go into tears. However some of our members react like that and then two of them get into a catfight and its all downhill from there.
My "Mentor" account is Banned for an opinion, a negative one yes, a negative one about a forum user indeed also. But still simply an opinion.
Banning for an opinion is harsh, however it depends on the reason. You can't attack the person and their integrity, as that's just mean. If you want to point out their flaws with constructive criticism via PM or something that's different.
Habbox has a very long way to go before it would come close to something i could consider as "liberal" in terms of peoples opinions, even if an opinion is considered offensively, it is no less valid as an opinion.
With our base of members being larger than others, we have to craft our rules toward the demographics of our members.
So even if your believe opinions should be allowed, in a full way, sirek obviously does not "/
How do you put it on sierk? He's the one that pays the bills and makes some decisions, but you can't put all of it on him. Even if it was all him, what about human error, unless sierk isn't allowed to be human cause he owns Habbox ;)
i personally accept anyone that thinks im stupid, should die, or anything else abouts me's opinion is valid, all it does is lead to my own opinion that they are stupid or something of a simlar notion, and so on.
I would accept it too, to a certain point. When someone tells me "You should die because you are Hindu." I take that as over the line. So yes, an opinion could go too far. However a lot of our members can't take that and either it turns into a catfight or someone gets really aggravated.

Opinions come both positive and negative, but Habbox just want the positive, people you get told off for arguing against someones belief. Especially when it is, actually, stupid.
As I said, you can argue a belief, you can argue an opinion, but you can't attack the person for having that opinion. Can you say, "This opinion is dumb because _____"? Yeah probably. Can you say "What an idiotic opinion close the thread right now"? not really but you won't get infracted every time for that. As I said, if it were only certain members it would be possible, but there are 30,000+ members who have registered to HabboxForum so there is a large group to think of.
Lol, give adam a break. Why do Habbox think tehy are right all the time. Habbox, SORT IT OUT. TRY LISTENING TO YOUR USERS INSTEAD OF BEING ALL LIKE 'YA IM HABBOX I OWN HABBOHOTEL BRAP, CALLIE IS MY MOM'
LOL
And you are basing your knowledge on what experience exactly? You've been here for one month. However if you are who I think you are you've been on another account for a year and got that banned for something other than voicing an opinion. Anyway that account hadn't logged in since November 04 so you still have a gap when you weren't here unless you have other accounts. But still, what gives you the right to be so rude? Cause this Forum Management has done more to please users than most others. They knocked 4 months off infractions (not sure if the 6 month creation was during Owen or ---MAD---) and condensed the forum, along with warnings and the elimination of some rules. When we're wrong, we admit it, but you acting like the king of the world won't get you the best response.

It does seem as if to me that if anyone says anything even slightly out of context to what others have said these days they are punished. It wasn't like this a couple of years ago, people were allowed to voice their own opinions. Maybe people did it more sensibly back then or maybe there are too many immature 10 year olds on here now. Or it could be that the moderators were more leanient in the old days. Whatever it is this forum has changed- and not for the better I hasten to add.
