Basicly its for if you have a poor connection on a radio and cant hear someone properly, useing the alpha, bravo, charlie is alot clearer than ABC even with alot of static with a bad signal, Useful if your on a mobile and have a crap signal etc, although it was more aimed at miltary use when communition was much poorer. Although is still emploied today "/

I think I get it. Like if you're trying to say a letter or whatever through the phone or something, you'd say a word which starts with that letter? Whatever. I usually use a country's name. D = Denmark, A = America etc.

&I didn't know what it was until now.
