One trick i always use if i can't sleep is to read. It tires your eyes out and makes you sleepy. Or sometimes background noise e.g. the TV actually helps me sleep. If the problem persists try sleeping pills?

Yeah, reading a book always helps - and if you're going to sleep with the TV on, I'd advise you put it on a really low volume setting, so there's just the slight echo. Also, if you purposely squint your eyes slightly, you'll start getting tired; heck even drawing could help you get to sleep.
If none of those work, visit boots and purchase some "sleep spray". I recommend "peppermint & nutmeg" spray some on your pillow and it'll tire you out.

I listen to music on my mp3 before I go to sleep it helps me relax and have a bath before you go to bed that helps me relax as well and it's easier to fall asleep

i had the same problem and the thing is your brain is over active and its basically not switching off when it should.
write down evrything you need to do before you sleep then relax before you go to bed.. go to bed then try to sleep and you will fall to sleep in minutes

Stay awake all night, and go to sleep at about 7pm the next day - That'll work, and you'll be getting up and going to bed at a normal time..
I had to do it for school..
But it's all good, if you go to a country with a timezone like totally different to yours then you can easily adapt and then laugh at your parents and stuff that they cant cope with jetlag :P

Watch what you're eating for two reasons, if you eat too much energising foods like carbohydrates you need to burn them or you have left over energy, also, some foods with sugar's and caffeine or additives etc, that can keep you awake.
Erm, don't read (personally) because it keeps you awake and makes you wanna read on, or it's what happens to me. I normally stay up all night and keep reading until the end of the book...
do alot of exercising, it tires you. Also any stressful situations, avoid 'em... it can keep you awake with worry.

We have found the problem =] The medication he's taking is keeping him awake. It's because it's a change that your body will soon overcome.

To be honest, have a game of football or any other sport which makes you kind of tired, then go into a hot bath for like 30 mins, and once your proper hot n everything all your muscles are relaxed, you will just lie down on the bed and before you know it you are asleep!

Nnnnnoo! dont do that at all! Come off of the computer One hour before you go to sleep, watching it gets you excited, and then you cant relax and wind down.

Ok, well thats OK, ut what type of music?Heavy metl and rock Etc get you aexcited, etc.
So i would suggest perhaps try taking Kalms (Available without perscription from a pahrmacy) They arent as such a Tablet, more a relaxtivie. They make you tired, and relaxed, and then they make you want to sleep.I have uber problmems wih sleep, so i try wearing i sleep mask, having 2 Kalms, and if thats till dosn't work, i go dowstaris quietly, and get jysself a small hot milk with a teaspoon of sugar. That works a treat. Also dont have any choclotae or sugary things, except for the milk, otherwise youll get high or sugar rush.
I hope i can help you, Love Grace

I had the same problem i would go to bed at 10 and not go to sleep until 1 most nights,i spoke to my docter he said your body can get into a routine of not being ready for sleep,so what i did over a week i would exersize lots to tier myself and when it came to my bed time i found i would just fall straight to sleep and after doing this about 5 times my body got into a routine of letting me sleep at 10 o'clock and i have been sleeping fine.
Tips for not being able to sleep.
Drink a warm drink while sitting in you bed.
Go to the toilet before u settle down in bed.(can play on your mind "do i need the toilet" keeping ur mind active)
Reading helps relax you mind and calms you down.
Thinking about not getting to sleep keeps u awake longer!
Hope you find this useful :)
Sorry for bump, if your still having the problem, or if anyone else is feeling the same, you should have an alcoholic drink before you want to go to bed (If you're over 18), if not, stay awake until about 9pm, then go to bed later every night until you reach your desired "bed time".
Good luck :)

Well being addicted to caffeine, I have sleeping problems too, that is one of the reasons I started drinking coffee. But it doesnt help it at all. Maybe your worrying about something? I know this might sound weird but crying can make you tired. Im not saying make yourself cry every night.
Try early nights, sleeping medicine like Nytol.
Information on it can be found here

Good luck with everything
