What does 6/5 stand for? You bet £6 and you get 5 times back?

Well according to my dad it's not worth putting any money on for her to win. Say if you put £50 on her to win you'd get £60 back if she won.

I think it means you put 5 quid on you get 6 quid back which isnt good odds which means that person is most likely to win. whereas if for example a horse didnt have much chance of winning the race the odds would probably be 40/1, you put 1 quid on and get 40 quid back ;)
