I was having a debate sorta, with Italic (Xuzuno) if it is, he says that New Zealand is not in a continent at all, while I think it's part of the continent of Australia.

He has convinced me that he's right, but i'm still not sure.. anyways discuss this topic.

New Zealand is a country in the region Oceania/Australasia. Although the country Australia is in this region which is in the continent Australia doesn't mean New Zealand is.

New Zealand is not on the same continental shelf and so is not part of the continent of Australia but is part of the wider region known as Australasia.
Just go on wikipedia.

Its part of the region, but not part of the continent. It's like how some middle east countries arent part of a continent.

It is part of a continent, the same continent as australia, you were just calling it the wrong name :)

Australia and New Zeland are both part of Oceania, along with a few other countries I can't remember. :)

Oceania isn't a continent ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania

It is 1 of the names given to the continent which Australia and New Zeland are in. Although according to Wikipedia, it also says (by search continent) that new zeland is in the continent "Australia".

Continent of Australia.

Most of Oceania consists of small island nations. Australia is the only continental country; by some definitions, Indonesia has land borders with Papua New Guinea, East Timor, and Malaysia.

Oceania is known as a region not a continent.

Oceania has been traditionally divided into Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, and Australasia.
