Every user that does not have a usergroup like VIPs or whatever are getting stars. They're replacing userbars.
Who knows, they might even replace the different usergroup bars. :o :P

Id disagree, as far as i can tell, everyone with a star has exactly the same one, regardless of whether they just registered, or have been here years, have 1000s or posts or none, have 100s or rep or none. So on the basis they dont seem to actually do anything or serve any purpose of function, id say they are pretty pointless at this stage "/

Nope because there are other factors to consider such as days since registration. And also if any user pointless posts continously he/she get (temp/perm) banned for that.

The most important vip features are the coloured name, editable usertitle and free rep, so there is still a big difference between Platinum Members and VIPs.

Increasing the size any more will lead to slower loading of threads / posts and also be annoying when scroll down on threads :).

Also from that list you can see only about 60 people will actually get the 150 x 150 size :).
