Id recommend Sam over winamp simply because of the easy music faders, sound fx, history lists etc...

It is possible to DJ with winamp aslong as you download the DSP plugin from the shoutcast site

IF your new to DJing, deffinatley start your steps with SAM though...

I use winamp since it's free :P

Sam, you can get the key by a serial website, but it has pronographic advertisements, PM me ill get you they key.

SAM's crap cos it doesn't play iTunes files, which most of my music is :@

Yes, you do need a plugin which you can get from http://www.shoutcast.com

Winamp is available at http://www.winamp.com

Both the player and the plug-in are completely free :)

I have no problems with winamp.

Anyway, Once you have downloaded shoutcast and winamp, install them both.

Then, open winamp (skip the registration if it asks you), go to options > preferances.. , It should open a new little window, scroll down on the side nav and go to DSP/Effect then click Nullsoft SHOUTcast source.

And thus, you can begin djing :P
