Right, in my 6th Form in the canteen they've introduced this new "cashless" system in which we have cards to pay. These cards are topped up by us by putting money in machines, we then take the food to the till, have our card swiped and the money goes off the card.
Simple, no?
NO! Because what they forgot to explain is that there is a £5.00 a day limit on how much you can spend. Now, considering I
A) Eat alot
B) Drink alot
This is not good news. For example.
Breakfast: Bacon Buttie & Milk - £1.00
Dinner: 6 chicken pieces and Pasta - £1.90
Cake: 40p
Now, I have ONE Kidney and have to drink LOTS of water. The cheapest drink is 65p.
3 X Bottled Water = 1.95
£4.85 in all. This is NOT GOOD. The bacon butties are awful, I usually get a sandwich or baugette (sp?) which cost £1.30/1.70.
Everything is over-priced and, to pay for the new system, they've had to cut back on the damn quality of food!! It's awful.
Opinions?

2 words.
Packed lunch.

why dont you just buy a damn drink from outside school for 40p (water) and take it in.
or just deal with it, your not going to change it, so moaning here isnt going to do anything.
Edit: i do sympathise with you actully i pay £3.20 For 2 ham rolls and 2 bottles of squash stuff, ******* rip off.

it sounds good, but the nthe £5 limit brings it down
it'd be good for me as i only have like £3/£3.50 for lunch

If you've got problems with it, then complain about it. And, if you need more water for your problem but you don't have enough money, you should tell them about it and they'll arrange something for you.

That card idea sounds cool in my opinion, but the limit isn't and neither is the price increase. Report it to your headmaster at your school and try and persuade others who don't agree to go with you. Hopefully, this will encourage him to change it.

I second that, but it's not worst as we have a £4 limit - so yeah packed lunch FTW
I have exactly the same in my school, and it works fine...

lol@that system. yeno people have complained to general office cos they paid like a £50 cheque in & it wasn't on the card, so the £50s just gone.
our school sucks tbh.
i only spend like £1 cos we're not allowed in at break, & i don't get much for lunch anyway, so im fine.

I thought about a packed lunch but its a bit odd being 16 and having a lunchbox haha :P
Also, there is like a water fountain but it should be closed due to toxcidity! Ami (Insane) will tell you the same (she goes to the school I go.. she's in the lower years bless her). Everything is pathetically over priced and I wouldn't mind if the quality of food was good and it actually filled you up!

when i was in year 7, the pasta was 35p without sauce and about 45p with, now they've put it up to about 85p. thats why i don't eat much, the food sucks & its way overpriced aha.

they've uped the price again?
i haven't had pasta since last year, & from what i remember it was 80-85p. next year it'll be £1.10 for a small plate of it "/
god that sucks. My old school (im in college now, i get my food from town which is a 30 second walk away :D) had that system and as far as im aware it had a £3.00 limit when it first started. I always used to have a packed lunch neway so it didnt bother me. But yeah their noobs "/. Good luck getting the limit increased.
oh edit: just noticed thread title says college. We have a refectory where u pay with cash, not machines.
