I am thinking about getting a dog, well a puppy. If I get one do you think my three cats will be a threat (or the dog be a threat for likely) for them and also how much attention will it need, I mean can I go out for the day and leave the dog alone, if so, how long?
Thanks guys, and I know puppies/dogs need A LOT of attention but I need a percific answer.

It depends on the breed, terriers are the worst, not bcause their bad dogs, but they don't get on with other animals so much.

I doubt the cats would be a threat towards the dog in my opinion. It also isn't a very good idea to leave a puppy on its own and go out because it has to get used to the environment and things around it first. Maybe when it grows older you can leave it for a while.

My cat was ok with my dog, when we got him. There were a few times where they'll play fight or Tom (my cat) would stare at him wondering what he is. He's a Labrador if that helps? I think my nans Jack Russel was also ok with cats.

if the dog is a puppy, it should be ok with a cat.

if it grows up around cats then it shouldnt be a problem because it will be used to them..

Thanks for your help. How long can you leave a dog at home?

Cats can be very violent with small, new animals if they arent used to sharing affection/ fuss.

It depends what kind of dog you want to get. Smaller dogs can be very nasty with other animals and small children.

Bigger dogs tend to be very good with cats and other animals.. Labradors that i've kept have always been very good with cats.

What kinda dog you thinking of getting? ;o

Well a husky, maybe a labrador. Or something along the lines of a Jack Russel.
:)
Very different types of pets, I know.
