I saw this advert for the NHS campaign to try and stop people smoking and to me it is horrible. But, it could get the point across very easily.

I am not going to post the picture as it is actually disgusting but here is the link if you would like to take part.

I can see what your saying. I dont really mind it but what if a kid, say like 8, saw it what would he/she think. Also, the image they used doesnt really say anything about smoking unlike the old adverts like where they had a tube that was blocked with junk from smoking.

Well the whole point of it is to scare people into quitting, and to scare people into not starting! I think it works well, and isn't to vulgar as its trying to get across a serious message.

Who'd want a hook in their gob pulling them places?
I wouldn't for starters, glad I quit last year I'm telling you, I feel healthier, well I AM healthier [:

Not vulgar, it is there to do a purpose and if it works then its done that purpose.

If the government really cared they'd just ban smoking.
Unfortunately the government gets billions in taxes from tobacco sales every year.

The worst over-the-top advert is (was?) an anti-drink driving one that was running in Ireland for a few years where a small boy gets killed by someone crashing through his garden fence and knocking him down. Pretty gruesome.

These images don't get the message accross better than any other median, Smokers know the facts they will quit when they want to. This sort of advertising will have little effect imo.

yes -- i think it's disgustingly horrible.. but it gets the point across + hopefully will stop people smoking, therfore the advert is affective.

They did something like that.
They showed a hand with a cigarette inbetween the fingers and they explained what happened if you smoked too much. And they some ashes came off the cigarette making it smaller.
(The two fingers holding the cigarette were the legs)
And I voted yes because the picture was disgusting.
