View Full Version : Scam Site Warning

There is a scam site going around which unfortunately has claimed a member of our staff as it's victim.

The site in question is on the subject of a "rich list". The site, when visited, displays a message saying "bandwidth exceeded", making it seem inactive, but in the background it changes your habbo window into a fake login, which looks extremely realistic. In this scam, things happen as so:

Site advertised > Person visits scam site > Habbo client redirected > Habbo logs back in (in fake login) > Password and user details sent to scammer > User sent BACK to real Habbo > Scammer logs in your account > Scammer steals furni > Scammer advertises site to your console ..... LOOP

Here are some important points to help you stay safe:
- If you visit a site, always make sure anti-virus protection, firewall or anti-spyware software is running, updated and active.
- Exercise caution when visiting sites you do not know the content of.
- Be wary of sites EVEN if recommended by friends, they may have been hacked too.
- Always make sure that it does not open a popup, or CLOSE any popup that you didn't open
- If your Habbo window goes back to the log in, CLOSE it, and then use the REAL habbo to check in
- Report any suspicious sites to an online moderator using the call for help, explaining politely that it is being used to steal accounts.

Hopefully this should help you steer clear of what is a very simple, yet clever scam.
