The little movie about Gothic Furni on the Habbo Homepage is incorrect as when you walk though the portcullis, you walk through one of the pillars not the centre. :)

He's right. Well, actually, if you're standing the square infront of the gate and you walk through you go through the column, but if you click it from further away in the room you go through the centre.
