Aside from jumping to conclusions and making those unorthodox accusations of why you stole it, I'd say they'll only talk to you and give you a warning, I assume you're what, around 13/15 years old? If it's the first or one of the first times you've done this, they're only going give you a warning. Having an ASBO is a little extreme, I assume you only stole something from a store? Or did you attack a little old lady, take her shopping and her purse?

You should worry about it, thats the idea, but you're not going to go to jail. My little brother vandalised a load of peoples property and smashed someones car up that he thought was abandoned. He should have been put to jail in my opnion coz hes an annoying little bugger, but he got a warning and about an hours time in jail to 'scare' him. He was then let out and warned not to do it again. He also was banned from carrying anything that he could mark things with on him when hes out such as pencils, pens and spray cans. Our local cop stops him every now and then to check he hasnt broken this promise.

Stealing sweets is not really as bad so you may find you are banned from these shops. However if the shop owners decide to press charges, you could have to pay fines or community work i would guess.

In my views the punishment should fit the crime and so you should have your hands chopped off.

Unfortunately that kind of punishment isn't allowed in the UK and, although Theft carries a maximum sentence of 6 months imprisonment and a £5000 fine, it's unlikely you'll get either due to your age (I don't know how old you are but if you're stealing sweets then probably quite young or very immature). If it's the first time you've being in trouble with the police then you're likely to just get a caution or a telling off.

But if you get caught again then you'll probably end up with an ASBO or some other form of punishment. Also the fact they've contacted your school will place you in an arkward position now due to the fact that the school will be keeping an eye on you to make sure you don't steal any of their pens or other cheap crap.
