When it comes down to it looks really don't have much to do with a succesfull relationship. If a relationship is based on something as shallow as how someone looks then you really shouldn't be with that person. Be yourself and you'll attract the right girl.

Hey I'm 13 and tbh I ain't that bothered that I haven't had a girlfriend for a couple of years. It's not the end of the world if you don't have a girlfriend and just concentrate more on your education I mean what's more important... Looking cool in front of your mates for a while or getting the right education that depend on the rest of you life. First off, 13 is young. You had a girlfriend when you were 9? I didnt even know the difference between boys and girls when I was 9.
Second, all girls are different. Your problem is youre waiting. Dont wait for something to happen, make it happen. Go out and meet people

And yes, it shouldn't all be about looks. However making a little effort to make yourself look nice will probably improve your confidence around people you like and it'll shine through. I know personally I feel great when I've done my hair and make up and I'm wearing a pretty dress. I like guys who have made a bit of an effort - ironed, washed clothes. Smells nice. Groomed. (however don't go over the top and spend hours in front of the mirror straightening your hair, thats our job :P)

Try to be aproachable and friendly. Once you have female friends (if you don't already of course) you can flirt with them, find shared interests, use these as an excuse to casually suggest you do something together. (like cinema, a concert etc) If it went well, suggest something again. If you feel chemistry in a moment, you could move in for a kiss.

I've discovered that everybody in school pretty much fusses over something they shouldn't be.
It's really unneccessary for you to get so obsessed with it. Pay attention to school more. Wait until a more suitable age to start really preparing yourself, or wait until someone you really like comes along.

Also, do not change yourself for another person. It's not right. You can tidy yourself up a bit, that's alright, but don't change yourself!

When I read the thread title, I thought you may have been older but you are only 13.

As said before you should go to school to get a good education and to have fun with your mates. If you get a girlfriend at this age after about a week you will/could be very stressed for numerous reasons, and she really liked you but you only wanted to go out with her to fit in and she did not really mean anything to you think of how she would feel.

It seems that you only want a girlfriend so you can fit in, well if you have friends then you already have fitted in and shouldn't be worrying about not having a girlfriend.

To how to get a girlfriend.
You should just be yourself there is no need to change. If you changed to get a girl to like you then in your relationship you changed back to normal she may not like it so don't change.
