I think your really gona need to (or at least get someone to) do a skin for it, as it is, it just looks too defult which stops it looking anything special, aka worth joining, really. Custom Vote buttons are also pretty important to the success, as the defults dont look so nice to add in to a page etc.

Banner would also be a good touch.
