In year 10 we had to pick a language we gna do but if we wanted to do french and another then we had to put the other as our main language and french as an option, i just do german for gcse

We can take french if we want but we are forced to take welsh (I mean come one theres not one person over the age of 5 who canrt speak welsh aswell as a major language like english so what is the point?) but I wont be taking french mainly because are teachers are skits (not just the ones you hate they make you do ******* yoga and **** like that) and I wont do any of the worked need for welsh so hopefully that wont put me in for anything with welsh :D

well for singapore it's different.

first language (compulsory): english

second language: your mother tongue, and since singapore's populated with mostly chinese, malays & indians:-
- mandarin
- malay
- tamil/other indian languages

third language (not compulsory at all): others, like:-
- french
- german
- spanish
- japanese
- arabic etcetc.

I have Italian lessons outside of school but I took no languages for GCSE, mainly because I find the language facilities and teachers to be poor at my school and we could choose between French and Spanish.

In Year seven we did a short course on German, French and Japanese. In year 8 you can choose what you want to continue with then in year 9 and 10 you can pick them as elective subjects although it isn't very common some times.

Personally I do Japanese by correspondance (Distance education) because I wished to continue with the language and the class didn't go ahead.

This thread title fails to deliver people "doing" languages.

/fail

Also, you obviously don't do English that well.

"Do you know a language" would be a more suitable thread title.

I wanna see people doing languages now :@

I learnt French and to be honest there is no point unless you want an overseas job or to work in communications because most other countries speak English. I went to France and most people spoke English anyway, English is a Global Language, why learn another one if you know it?
