Ooo nice thread.
I'm guessing this is people who would make the ideal rock band..?

Never the less, I'm going to pick some artists who would have the ideal vocals for a band, I'm hoping it doesn't matter if they have passed away..

Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin.

Or more recent artists..

Mary J Blige, Joss Stone, John Legend.

I disagree with all your choices apart from Aretha Franklin Joss Stone. Joss is a great female vocalist and Aretha is probably the best of all time. James Brown was an amazing frontman, not a great vocalist. Ray Charles was just a perfect artist of his time.

Heh, it was quite a bias view, I just chose a bundle of my favourite artists, who have kinda simular voices, or voices that would sound good together.

I think chris cornell would be good while he was in soundgarden. He is still great in audioslave, but I think he was better then.

Agreed. However, I don't think the work he's done in Audioslave has exactly enabled him to use his vocals to the ability of his former days. ie. Soundgarden. Maybe it's the type of band Audioslave are or maybe it's just Chris.

And how come I'm the only person to have put Flea as bassist? I'm not a fan of his but I know he's one of the best in history. If I ever think of my ultimate line-up, I start off with Slash and Flea 'cause there's nobody beating them right now...unless you count dead artists.
