talentless BORING post-grunge?
dude how can they be talentless, you should listen to them more carefully before you make statements like that, it being boring is your opinion and taste, some people may like it, just because you dont doesnt mean you have to label it, yeh its post-grunge whats ur point, grunge just isnt liked much at the moment, but its still around in the smallest minority. thanksss

duh.

yeh its post-grunge whats ur point, grunge just isnt liked much at the moment, but its still around in the smallest minority. thanksss

there is a marked difference between brilliant grunge bands like Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins and Hole and terrible POST-grunge such as Creed, Nickelback and Seether.

Any band similar to Nickelback is just bad. That's pretty much a fact.

No, it shows they're straight edge.

No, it shows they're straight edge.

ie;

i'm a human, just like you,
but i got better things to do,
than sit around,
f*** my head,
hang out with the living dead,
snort white s*** up my nose,
and pass out at the shows,
don't even think about speed,
it's something i don't need.

i've got straight edge.

i'm a human, just like you,
but i got better things to do,
than sit around and smoke dope,
coz i know i can cope,
laugh at the thought at eating ludes,
laugh at the thought of sniffing glue,
always gonna keep in touch,
never gonna use a crutch.

i've got straight edge.

straight edge is a movement mostly fueled by hardcore bands in which a person pledges to not drink, not smoke, to not take drugs and to not partake in casual sex. minor threat are credited with starting the movement. it is common for straight edge bands to have 'x's in their names and for edgers to draw black 'x's on their hands.

the guy who wrote the song i quoted above now smokes pot, drinks and has sex with his girlfriend. oh the irony.

Yeah, in my opinion Minor Threat definately did start the movement. I quite respect Straight Edge people, it's something I couldn't do(I like alcohol too much) but the non smoking/drugs would be eazee! Some are full on straight edge vegans - nuts. Most bands will have like xBishopx or StraightxEdge or something like that. But quite a few bands don't use xs to signify it and are just straight edge/sing about it in their songs.

most people binge drink and do drugs MORE when they're underage. that's actually a fact. it was started by kids in a scene where you could either start a band or shoot smack. luckily for us a few kids from that area chose to make a band and we got some quality music.

oh and hardcore; don't you think that a lot of edgers have taken it too far though? i mean when ian mackaye wrote straight edge he explicitally said he wasnt telling you what to do, nor did he tell you to go out and get XXXXXXXX tatooed all over yourself. just my opinion anyway.

scene's are always taken too far as people seek to go to a further extreme and eventually they dissapear as it all beomces unoriginal and boring.
by summer it'll be out of fashion no doubt; it's already fading.

you're a ***. i'm saying it has only become so prevalent with the rise of the current scene and popular bands.
once this scene is replaced, we'll see a lack of newbie straight-edge people.
i know it's been around for years.

not really, a lot of people are straight edge now who don't follow any scene, it's a common thing, not just something to do with hardcore. anyone who joins straight edge as a fad isn't straight edge, they're just living without drugs.

you're referring to hardcore punk as a sub-genre which is a lot different to the metalcore or whatever it is.
d'you know what's big here right now? grindcore.
that's a genre that severely needs to dissapear off the scene.

Dude, you're making yourself look so stupid and idiotic. Hardcore as in bands like Hatebreed, xBishopx, Six Ft Ditch, On Broken Wings and Parkway Drive. Check them out www.myspace.com/hatebreed (http://www.myspace.com/hatebreed) and www.myspace.com/parkwaydrive (http://www.myspace.com/parkwaydrive) It contains no "rubbish" music and is definately not scene, hell all the sceneys mainly like stuff like MCR/p!atd and of late the bands like Trivium/Bfmv infact. Hardcore also isn't just a genre of music - it's a way of life.

Well done someone finally managed to actually tell me what Hardcore bloody is, and tbh all those bands are rubbish =/ and saying "hardcore also isn't a genre of music - it's a way of life." is the most pathetic thing you can say, it's a genre of music, only losers become "followers" of specific genres of music, and for your information, I can't make myself look stupid or idiotic about something I know nothing about if I'm asking what it is, you're stupid or idiotic for actually saying that, asking what something is doesn't mean you're stupid so get lost with you're pathetic attitude, if you follow hardcore as a life style then I seriously suggest you getting theropy right now because no one likes people that are over selective :)

ARE YOU SPECIAL?
YES, YES I THINK YOU ARE.
a few pointers to aid you in your pathetic attempt at life:
1) you can make yourself look stupid through not knowing what something is and then proceeding to comment on it (as you did)
2) you're a noob
3) you did make yourself look stupid and you continue to do so
4) you're a noob
5) learn to spell
6) you're a noob

8) you're a noob
9) "followers" of a musical genre are not losers. the term for one's specific musical preferance is refined.
10) you're a noob

3) you did make yourself look stupid and you continue to do so - Once again, you can't be stupid for not knowing what something is
4) you're a noob - All you got? Ohh I'm crying
5) learn to spell - I can spell fine so don't comment on my spelling
6) you're a noob - Wow someone has a wide vocabulary..
7) there's more to life than your DS, habbo and habbox (it's true!) - Yes, wanna know something really cool, you don't know anything about me :D I hardly ever play on my DS, I VERY rarely even go on habbo and I only come onto habbox because I have nothing else too do, I go out in real life and do film recording so learn something before you just assume you're right you idiot :)
8) you're a noob -
9) "followers" of a musical genre are not losers. the term for one's specific musical preferance is refined. - If you wanna like one type of music go ahead but then you'll get some dumb label that no one cares about
10) you're a noob -

Those bands aren't rubbish, you just don't like them. That doesn't make them any less talented or any less good. Actually no it's not, hardcore is a way of life to loads of people - the lifestyle revolves around the music and with that comes other things, but seeing as you know bugger all about hardcore you wouldn't know it. You can make yourself look stupid/idiotic if you don't know it by saying about "techno sounds" that "scene people" will like - you made assumptions on it and you were wrong, making yourself look stupid. Well said Thrilled. I need therapy? Coming from someone advertising to play Nintendo DS with a bunch of randomers online...'nuff said.

What's wrong with wanting to play DS online against people? There is nothing wrong with it, you haven't got any type of problem if you want to play a game online so stop being an idiot and refering to the fact that I want to play DS games online
And if you go back up I suggest you read my post again because I was ASKING if it was techno, it's not that hard to understand really, so if you're going to argue then argue about the topic in hand and not the fact that I choose to play games, I don't go saying you're sad because you think you're smarter and better than me because you think you can make me feel small or whatever because there's more of you, Hardcore music yes can be a way of life to some people, and it's these people that need to go outside because there's more to life than listening to people singing, maybe try make your own music? I doubt you have the brain power to do that though eh?

good call. original and creative music is never any good anyway.

All music is creative in some way, not always in a good way but in a way and tbh half of the music around now is not "original" you will get very few original bands because it's all been done before

I don't really wanna get that involved but when she said some see Hardcore as a way off life, I think she meant like which friends, social life like going to gigs and such, what they spend their money on etc. Not staying in all day listening to music.

I'm just saying, you tell me to go see a therapist when you're what 16 and wanting to play people on DS online which is really "using your brainpower".

If not dance is it some rubbish music designed to make little people think they're cool or "scene" get a bit techno in ohh leet now aren't you?
You asked what the genre was, then you went to try & describe what you think it may be and mock it? That's stupid, like I said.
Considering I play drums, I think I do have the "brain power" to do that. You basically just mocked anyone that listens to music by anyone other than themselves. Hell, most people listen to music made by others but can't play an instrument themself - what's your point? So yeah, I play the drums so your point is dismissed. Also we don't need more of us, it's just that you are making stupid comments and we feel the need to comment you back on them.

HARDCORE IS A WAY OF LIFE FOR THE SOCIAL MOVEMENTS IT PUSHES. THE MOST COMMON IS STRAIGHT EDGE, WHICH TEACHES KIDS TO LIVE AN INTOXICATION FREE LIFE, IF YOU'RE SAYING THAT THAT ISN'T A WAY OF LIFE YOU SUCK.

but srsly 21 and you play ds online. lol :)

Well fair do's you play the drums but really what's the buzz with hardcore? I looked up wikipedia and hardcore is under like 4 different genres of music so really I am right, it may not be "hardcore" but you mentioned Hatebreed which is Metalcore, which is Death metal, then there is hardcore dance, hardcore techno so you can't really be arguing about hardcore when there is tons of different types so as far as I see it anything you've tried to prove me wrong about is now invalid, that straight edge crap yea so that is different but really who cares? If people want to get drunk then they can, drugs I'd understand for but if people want to drink then people shouldn't really stop them (unless obviously it's underage) smoking and drugs I would understand if bands tried to encourage people not to use them but drinking isn't really bad unless you do it too much or too often, proof about different types of hardcore is here :)

I'm not 21 you moron, and really, any band could teach people to live an intoxication free life, hardcore needs to be a whole "thing" to achieve that?

Dude, you can't ask what the buzz with hardcore is. I like pretty much EVERY genre of music - hardcore I just prefer out of them all. You have a favourite music genre and I don't mock/comment you on that, so why bother it to me "/ Hatebreed aren't metalcore, KSE and Atreyu are metalcore - Hatebreed definately aren't metalcore.
With straight-edge they aren't STOPPING anyone from drinking "/ They are encouraging them to stop drinking, but they aren't MAKING them quit drink if they don't want. You seemed to have interpreted this a bit differently than it actually is.

KSE? Atreyu are good xD I don't really get why metal has so many different sections =/ it gets annoying, I don't care cause I like everything, my fave band is SlipKnoT and I listen to Eminem and all sorts of rap, pop and just about anything, the only music I hate is dance, mostly because it's normally just a beat, maybe someone singing and it's just repeating over and over again, some is different but it's just too boring and dull to listen too

KSE being Killswitch Engage, dubbed the best metalcore act around at the moment but for me it's a tough call between them and Atreyu. I think because there is such a wide genre of metal, like so many different types that you get so many different sections of it. Speaking of Slipknot you seen Corey Taylors hair? Or lack of it should I say:P But I think it goes overboard - one of my friends listens to a band called Finntroll and they are "Troll folk metal" which I can't stand, although it's somewhat humourous/catchy. I like dance personally, I mean most rock songs consist of "repitition" apart from the chorus, which is like dance. Plus some people don't realise that dance music takes a lot of hard work to create - although it's electronic it isn't as easy as it's made out.

Yea, I do understand that dance music takes a lot of work to make perfect, I don't really listen to Killswitch, I've been meaning too, and yea I've seen his hair, I think he should of kept it how it was, in the Before I Forget music video it looked good but I think that was a wig because like the next week it was like super bright blonde and now xD can't imagine what it'd look like with his mask on xD
