This is a poem I wrote, it ISN'T based on personal experienced and I'm not too pleased with it. I would like some constructive criticism on how to improve it please.

I shut my eyes and hold back a tear,
As I remember the time when I held you near,
I force your face from my troubled mind,
And I try to forget the ways you were kind,
To me the boy that no-one wanted,
For my crime I’ll be forever haunted.

I really didn’t understand why,
You were fully willing to try,
To get me out of my downward spiral,
And now, I’m soon to go on trial,
For the murder of the one I adored,
My dream of perfection had a flaw.

I wasn’t the only one for you,
I wasn’t your soul mate but one of two,
The time we spent together I treasured,
And now I know why you seemed pressured,
For time whenever we were alone,
Cheating on me carved your tombstone.

You filled my mind with all these lies,
And they all led to your demise,
You didn’t think that I’d soon learn,
And that our love would take a u-turn,
I tried to keep calm, I truly did try,
I never thought that my actions would cause you to die.

I am alone, forever.
